    PARIS, March 8, 2009

    By Sarah Mower

Undercover didn't have a Paris show this season. Instead, Jun Takahashi took two models into a forest outside Tokyo in subzero temperatures and photographed them on a silver "runway" consisting of a few Mylar survival blankets ($1.60 apiece) laid end to end. The point—which became clear in a showroom in Paris, where Takahashi talked editors through racks of the clothes—is that the girls weren't cold.

Underwhelming!!!!!!!!! After a masterpiece last season, I can't believe he abandoned the romanticism for this mediocrity:(

The setting of the show is incredible! It's the best of both worlds--as cheap as a lookbook but as dramatic as a runway.

However, I'm not feeling much clothes-wise. Except for the last three looks, it's not all too spectacular.

The two capes are the only looks that impress me.

I agree WIWU :heart:the presentation is amazing!! and I think it's beautiful and can't wait to see HQ's of the clothing because the fabrics he uses are always gorgeous and Takahashi's magic is in the details... they're such an important piece to the puzzles that are his collections.

aww.. don't be sad. :winkiss: he always seems to alternate his super romantic and heavily conceptual collections with these more outerwear influenced collections, with a lot of winter accessories. I know what you mean though, it is sometimes like night and day  but I love it all and don't worry cause he will come back with more magic in the future

yes yes my dear  I love the cloaks in the forest!! and how if you scroll fast, from beginning to end, the color palette is like a fire being ignited and then extinguished :crush: and you know the textures are going to be tdf up close!!

you know runner kind of explained that contradictory nature of jun to me a couple years ago and he just likes to mess with the system...the format....we as shoppers. i guess in a way,it kind of makes one think a bit.

^^Haha, thanks for the encouragement, Inaya, I have no doubt in my mind that Jun Takahashi is a mastermind. Not to be such a disappointment, I do enjoy the pieces, the textures (brocades, knits, the feathers ???), and the technicalities that went into this collection. I just did not feel the overwhelming sensation like I did upon viewing his last show.

I understand totally... but since there is a pattern, I sort of brace myself for it   like how after ...But Beautiful I felt so empty... and then after Guru Guru again... and so on.

I am LOVING all of the gradients also and he's done them on so many diff materials! I have a parka from FW07 which was my fav of his outerwear collections and it is soo amazing to wear... all of the functional details and special additions he puts into the coats is so worth the extended wait between the more enchanting collections.

Wow, this has got to be the most BEAUTIFUL, magical runway ever! Clothes aren't too bad either, what gorgeous nudes and reds. I am not too disappointed - he is making the same case as Prada's back-to-nature women, but more convincingly here. He actually means it, with these garments.
