^^ i'm thinking that sweater may wind up as my mom's x-mas present...

^_^

i got some blk nylon anklet socks from uniqlo...
been looking for something that would be cute with a skirt/dress and sneaker or oxford, etc...that whole cdg look...
these fit the bill perfectly...
a very small, but important detail...

Bought for myself the 'men extra fine merino crew neck sweater' in black and the fit is really nice for women. Also nice long sleeves and long body, perfect for my length (5'11/1.80m). Quality seems good but time will tell.

^I have 4 jumpers from the mens section (so they fit shorties as well) The merino ones hold up really well! My oldest is almost 2 years and looks pristine.

my...the spring collection looks so fresh and crisp...!!!
i'm loving it~!

the IDLF stuff always looks so charming, doesn't it...?
with all the linen...
so french...
so- not- me...
...

i am really shocked that there is more roitfeld stuff coming...
it's all the SAME...
and it isn't selling very well at my store...
still waiting for that one blazer to get marked down further...
:innocent:...

good news about lemaire...
i was in the store today and picked up the black knitted skirt to match the top i got last week...
*someone must have returned it, cause it was the only one and it wasn't there last week...
i am super super pleased with this find...
not on sale but a real bargain at 49.90...
yattah!!!

...

i'm really interested in the unisex shoes~
have only seen room shoes from uniqlo until now...
:woot:

*oh- and i finally tried on one of those down jackets that everyone and their mother has...
hated it...i mean...really hated...
not for me...
got that out of my system now!

^I believe you can find the measurements of their garments on their website. You find the size chart when looking at your item of choice and then scroll down a bit when the chart pops up. It should be there at least. I have never double checked their accuracy though. I always look at garment measurements because I am so short, and the sleeve length has always been correct at least.

so- i wound up with a bunch of stuff this season...
the whole blk knit outfit and a pair of culottes from lemaire
a black pointelle knit sweater, blk chanel knock off blazer and both polka dot scarves from the CR collab...

spring lemaire looks nice...
i like the shape of the tanks and the dresses seem to be the highlights...
the spring menswear is also appealing...i enjoy all the stripes!

^_^

i also got a blk fleece lined zip hoodie...
been wearing it loads already...
it's just a great thing for running around in the snow and cold...

and- i got some tanks and l/s ribbed heat tech tops in navy, grey and white...
they're so nice~!
i love that they are doing ribbed!!!

and those fleece lined leggings i got earlier in the season are sooo toasty warm...

uniqlo has really become my go-to for staples...

i wish i could support an american brand and i wish it wasn't made in china, but i am OH SO glad that i can get affordable japanese designs right nearby...

*i saw a documentary about uniqlo's factories in china- it's the only reason i make an exception on my 'made in china' boycott...
plus- i trust the japanese to control quality and make sure every little detail is attended to...
no hanging strings on uniqlo garments~~~!!!
seriously do not know what i would do if i hadn't seen that program...
wear old clothes i guess...
:P

Hope they didn't permanently ditch their cashmere sweaters, all I see on their website now is a cotton/cashmere combination :(

^Why would they? I'm pretty sure it's one of their best-sellers and they always bring them back for fall winter. I'd assume it's just a seasonal change to lighter knits.

yeah, it's just the season.. last year I tried to find heattech in the middle of the summer and it was impossible. I saw a bunch of their super soft 100% cashmere sweaters down to even 5 dlls the other day, I was tempted but it was mostly the ugly colors and huge sizes (of course), among other winter leftovers.

I'm not sure about ethical treatment at Uniqlo... I noticed Japanese brands do bother to talk a lot about ethics, which I guess is great because at least they acknowledge the problem. Growing up in an industrial town with tons of foreign manufacturing companies (Japanese, Belgian, Korean, American..), the Japanese had a reputation for demanding nothing less than excellence in their products, and also for their ruthless labor policies (tiny benches, 12-15 hour shifts even for pregnant women, dirty meals.. if they even provided any, high level of discrimination, child labor, etc., the whole menu..). I'm actually quite indifferent to fabulous stitching, there's a reason why they're in another country, exploiting people that have a government that reduce them to cheap machinery for foreigners... if they were so ethical, they would be setting up factories in countries that for starters, have a structure that enforces ethical treatment towards other human beings (starting with health care)... I like their clothes, and unfortunately, buying clothes made by people that don't have to choose between basic groceries or walking an hour to work because they can't even afford public transportation, is sadly not always affordable, but their quality, no matter how high, becomes questionable if not quite dirty given the usual conditions they operate under, so they should shut up about it.. all BS.

Back on their stuff, I haven't bothered to check out the new Lemaire collection... I'm actually attracted to more pieces this time than in the Fall. When I glanced over it quickly, I only saw NY and Chicago listed in the stores that are carrying it, so I guess I won't be getting any.. the sizing is a bit tricky.. I want one of the dresses but they most likely run huge.. I don't want to look like a flag lol..

Whew, thanks for the reassurance ladies. I was hoping to snag a navy one for Spring, but I guess I missed my chance.

soft,
curious what the documentary is about?

Whew, thanks for the reassurance ladies. I was hoping to snag a navy one for Spring, but I guess I missed my chance.

at the end of the winter they mark all their cashmere pieces down to $29.99. it's the kind of cashmere that pills easier (it's a thinner ply than jcrew cashmere for instance)

in the winter though uniqlo does a brisk business in cashmere.

soft,
curious what the documentary is about?

it was on NHK and was all about uniqlo expanding in asia...
including their manufacturing and how they develop different products for different markets depending on their climates and culture and economy...

it was focused largely on how they train the employees at the factories in other asian countries like the philippines (?)...

a lot of footage in the actual factories...
they seem to have trouble getting workers to maintain the standards set by the company headquarters so there are managers sent from japan to actually live there and train and oversee...
plus additional on site visits from japanese headquarters to inspect and advise...

it was all quite interesting...
