The product as it is - sweaters, shirts and vodolazki - disappeared from the advertising at all.
By 1989, the print was left on a small green die with the inscription
    «United Colors Of Benetton».

Oliviero Toscani: «Contrary to traditional advertising, our prints are not usually used kopilaynov or product. Our prints does not tell people to buy our clothes, they are not even hint at it. All of our increasing aim at creating disputes over those items that are usually true, but that we believe should be widely discussed ».

Print with hands of different colors, one constrained by handcuffs - it is manifest that all people are connected with each other, we do this not and therefore must be such as to live. Less categorical, but the impressive print with a black woman breastfeeding a white baby, was the award in the history of advertising the brand.

I wish I was aware of it back then, must had been still a toddler.. But my aunt introduced me to Benetton, she loves it, she used to dress me up in it in elementary school.. I actually don't have a lot of good memories of Benetton except the nice colours, but that I only liked looking at them instead of wearing. I had this very pale yellow and grey fleece jacket.. nice thinking about it now. I wonder what happened to those clothes .. I should e-mail my mother..

I love Benetton ads so much!Especially the ones with actual clothes in them, because of the colors and hapiness, but of course all of the powerful, emotional ones also.

The other day, I found an old issue of their magazine, Colors. It was the issue that was withdrawn shortly after relase due to a 2 pg advert featuring genitalia, some of which belonged to children.

thanks for posting that gius :) this site is amazing. i didn't think to look for a benetton stream. i wish i had all the tears from that campaign. here's more info-

"and that's joan of arc with me. this was a big campaign. cuz jesus, adam and eve, and napoleon were in it too! Toscani posed as marilyn to help me get that special oomph. and he is a very large italian man, so that was pretty funny. this was in paris. and they cancelled jesus. "

i have the marilyn and napoleon somewhere. and did a commercial too. it was probably just for europe? and then they filmed some sort of documentary about Toscani. and he made a map of the world into a hat and wore it.

Colors didn't have their clothes in it. Though some of the campaigns that looked unlikely to have their clothes probably did have some. Colors was like the concept behind the "United Colors" part of the Benetton campaign, racial harmony, all types of people together. It focussed on politics, soci-economic situations in the world, poverty, famine, war, HIV, all cultures especially those in developing nations. It was a very vibrant magazine, full of photos, but disturbing. The campaign with Marilyn, Jesus, Napoleon, Joan of Arc, Adam/Eve, Cleopatra etc was "United Superstars" so that would have been after the political focus there, I guess it was historical Superstars kind of thing...
