US Elle October 2010 : 25th Anniversary Issue

ok.

there is video footage AND backstage shots from Karolina Kurkova's shoot for ELLE's 25th Anniversary issue.

so ... hopefully there will at the very least be a kick-*** editorial inside. with all these random covers, though, i'm really surprised they didn't give KK one. i mean, not a single model cover?!

Lauren Conrad has fronted two successful television shows over 5 years and is a best-selling author with a movie deal for her books in the works. She pioneered the act of branding in the reality realm and set the standard for everyone coming after her. She was the face of Mark Cosmetics for 3-4 years, she has a line at a major department store and another line in the works. By all accounts she is one of the most successful 20-somethings in Hollywood.

She deserves her cover as much as anyone else. All the griping about her is tired. She's one of the few positive role models out there right now.

agreed plus shes a major trendsetter maybe not among many TFSers but alot of the general public follow what she wears and buy it.

Lauren will sell well for them, so everyone should stop being so shocked. It's hardly the first time a magazine has put a star on there for those reasons. They're covering all bases with those four women, and I imagine that's the point. All the aspects.

You got to hand it to Lauren, even after leaving The Hills--she stills sells and is respected by consumers. Kudos to her.

She hasn't taken any opportunities. She 'starred' in a vapid, shallow TV show which represents everything is wrong about today's society. Her books were ghost written and she clearly didn't design her clothing range, which was generic and dull, may I add.

There's just a minor detail you left out...they were reality TV shows. What sort of talent does that require? I don't care if she didn't make a sex tape or if she didn't go rehab (Kirsten Dunst once went to rehab...does that make her any less talented?), that has nothing to do with her TALENT, which is a department she is clearly lacking in.

I didn't say anything about her aptitude for acting, writing and clothing design. I said she's a business woman and clearly she has talent in that area because she's achieved a level of success in her 24 years than most of us (including you) will ever achieve.

As for The Hills, if someone from MTV approached me in high school and offered me a starring role on TV, I'd take it as I'm sure most of us, again including you, would too.

They could've done a much better job with Gabby's cover. Her Ebony cover was so much better. All of these covers are stupid.

instead of doing 4 multiple bad covers, just do one simple cover, with maybe 2-3 texts on it, not that text overload, just bad.:innocent:
i have to say all the anniversary issues this year were kinda mediocre from i-d to elle.

I'm afraid I'm not impressed by the title "Most Dignified Reality Star Ever" but then I'm not one of those who ever deemed a "starring role in MTV reality show" as a golden opportunity for...anything. (As a high school student I would have *run* in the opposite direction & I am still in my 20s. Maybe if I wanted to get into producing entertainment? Gawd, couldn't you just try & segue that Golden Opportunity For Reality Stardom offer into an internship behind the scenes? I feel there's so many other ways you could play it. But I'm overthinking.)

Don't be worried about quality in your product, ppl. Your clothing line & book may be crap (& you didn't actually design or write it...minor detail) and your tv show was a vapid guilty pleasure of yore...you made tons of $$$$$! Ergo you are A Positive Role Model to whom all must genuflect & admire. Just direct me to that Lauren Conrad tabernacle I am so there...

I love Gabourey's subscriber cover, waaay better than the newstand version. I figure that if I'm not repulsed enough by one version of fashion's extreme to avoid it, makes no sense to be fussed about this one.

I'm thrilled to see the amazing Amanda on the cover. She looks extremely beautiful, especially in the subscriber's cover.
Megan looks gorgeous aswell.

Speak for yourself.

She is also not a trendsetter. She follows trends because she is too boring and unoriginal to ever start a trend.
She's one of the few positive role models out there right now.
This has got to be a joke. If I had a teenage daughter, I don't think I'd want her to live Lauren's lifestyle. No way, José. People can talk about book sales as much as they want, that will never change the fact that they were ghost written. It also doesn't stop the fact that she has zero talent. I don't care if she's popular. That doesn't mean she's talented. Even if the books weren't ghost written, that doesn't mean these pathetic excuses for 'novels' are literary masterpieces, either. The book follows the lives of fake, superficial people. Wow, such a role model. The stories are as equally vacuous as she is.

OMG, that's so funny and ridiculous when you have KK inside the 25th anniversary issue and don't give her the cover, especially after not having any model on the cover like 6 years or more.

if i were to guess, it would be the "end-of-summer" syndrome ... whereby the populace suddenly wakes up and realizes all the things they've set aside due to the summer season and are suddenly stressed about getting back to their 'real life'.

lol.

does anyone know the content of this yet? when is it meant to hit newsstands?

I hope I get Amanda's....

I really wish Camilla Belle or Mila Kunis had gotten one of the covers instead of Lauren. Absolutely nothing against LC - but I think they would have made a more stunning cover choice.

sooo ...

we still don't know any of the content/have any editorials?

does anybody know when i can buy it?
