US Esquire April/May 2020 : Chris Evans by Robbie Fimmano

Not Looking his best these days. Would I still do him, sure, but I might feel a little guilty after.

Everything is terrible. The photo doesn't look good, the typos are messy.

Ugly as hell. The British Esquire's concept of white frames gone totally wrong.

They ruined their format A MONTH after they changed it. Sigh.

My thoughts exactly! I was so impressed with the Macaulay Culkin cover and content, and now this. It's just messy and try-hard.

I'm mostly indifferent to the Chris Evans hype, so in order for people like myself to respond to his covers, the styling or photography must compensate. Neither did in this case. Yes, Fimmano is certainly proving to braver at Esquire than he is at Instyle, but what is that styling even? Moodboard: Random guy sitting in a bar?

Not a great cover. Chris Evans looks better than this.

Wait, am I disrespectful for criticizing this considering US is #1 in COVID cases right now? What's bad for one equally applies to the other

How DARE you?! The cover features Captain AMERICA, a clear representation of one of the countries hit hardest by Covid-19. As such, this cover is above reproach. Show a little respect!

Hellhole cover. The intern learned how to use directional blur in Photoshop from an "expert" tutorial on youtube.
Kudos for the stylist (unnamed) who tried and succeeded to portray Evans as an the-alcoholic-in-the-local-pub-whom-everyone-knows.
This title is months aways from being ceased. There is barely any talent there anymore. The editor is a web-first nobody. 6 issues a year, that people will forget to pick-up in the newsstand and won't resubscribe because in these days they need flour from the market. No spare change for mediocracy.

Learned yesterday only that they've cut down to 6 issues per year!

Esquire magazine quietly decreases print edition to six per year

Popular men’s magazine Esquire has quietly trimmed its print edition to six per year — down from eight, Media Ink has learned.

Last year, the once-mighty monthly had dropped its print frequency from 10 to eight issues amid an industry-wide slump in ad sales as the internet continues to steal eyeballs.

Troy Young, president of Esquire owner Hearst Magazines, said the reduction is not coronavirus-related, and that he plans to put more money into the digital side of the publication, which last May elevated digital editor Michael Sebastian to be the new editor-in-chief, replacing Jay Fielden.

“We made the decision a while back,” Young texted, “improve print quality at lower frequency.”

Hearst’s investments in Esquire will be targeted at “video and digital,” Young said.

Don't make us laugh, you would not feel at all guilty.

I read a news short yesterday about this cover story that he's launching a mostly political news site. So, no glam photo shoot when you want to be taken serious.

He was on the cover of Wired (Conde nast) a 1-2 months ago.

LOL. He could be wearing Balenciaga for all we know. Their clothes mostly look like it's lifted from a thrift store.
