Probably the ballsiest cover choice in recent memory. I don’t really like it, but I admire how radically un-commercial it is, from the subject to the styling to the photography.
Great cover portrait of an iconic artist. Love it!
The only thing I might have changed, would been to have her look directly at the camera.
But that's personal.
This has such a vintage feel to it. n some of her interviews from the 70s, she would go on and on about how much she loved leafing through Vogue Italia. Made me love her even more!
Love it and not just because I'm fond of her words. Might be personal to the max but I also love the color palette, the atmosphere... in tune with my current aesthetic mood. Haters gonna hate 'cause they are craving for cheesy glitter right before their cheesy holidays etc. but as for my own taste I've had enough glittery cheese over the years to be darkly happy to see this bold choice instead of another round of cheap glam.
While it could be argued that minimal effort has been made with the images, if diversity matters, then the inclusion of older women on covers is a part of it.
"You look ugly/you look like a man" has probably been the background soundtrack of Patti Smith's entire life.
Patti is a striking figure so there is no excuse for this. I'm sure I&V could have delivered an amazing portrait and they just worked for Elle, so you can't tell me they can't work for Bazaar. Of course, Nina actually seems invested in her job unlike Samira.
