I just don’t get it. It’s bad overall...
I hate the gold, the lack of concept, the background, everything!
And clearly, the stylist didn’t know what to do with her body.
She looks great in the Tom Ford but she needed more breast support, more fluid fabrics.
Those skin tight dresses are so contrived! Give her chiffon, a big slit and let her work the dress.

Magazines just keep trying to make her into a sex symbol. lol

Anyway, typical Serena Williams. Even in an "apology" to someone else, she makes it all about herself. No apology to Carlos Ramos though? I guess that's not needed since twitter doesn't care about him.

The second cover is everything! Great in every aspect! Congratulations Serena and HB to be open to present another kind of aesthetic that is not the tacky glamour that fashion magazines present again and again.

I love the editorial but not so keen on the main cover., The gold dress and the big brown hair witht he dark grow out are too literally 80s. I wish they had put her hair in corn rows with that dress. The subs cover is awesome though

LOL @the defensive coverline “UNRETOUCHED” so if anyone is critical of this cheap tacky shoot that’s straight out of ModelMayhem 2006, then they’re being immediately shamed into feeling sexist/racist/bigoted etc LOOOL

Just when I think Glenda couldn’t get lazier and cheaper, she surpasses my lowest of low expectations of her. Look, Serena’s personal preference of dressing like Willam Belli is her prerogative. But Glenda needs to remember that American Bazaar at one time, was a HF publication, and at least make some effort to elevate her coverstars to at least some professional standard. Otherwise, what’s the point???? If people wanted to see Serena dressed in her personal “style”, they can just go to any tabloid rag and see that. And if I wanted to see Serena “unretouched” (LOL @this being an actual concept now for a high profile fashion rag), I can easily get that from back issues of Sports Illustrated.

(Yara on the other hand… My God, she should be on the cover of Vogue Paris. Lisa Bonet realness: Unreal she’s surreal.)

In the 90’s the fashion team of Bazaar was the best, now...

Glenda's recipe for Bazaar is a tool which lost its usefulness...... and based on the content of this issue, she knows it because she borrowed quite a bit from others. There's the knock-off British Harper's outdoor staple but without the elegiac title which, surprise surprise, actually comes from an edition doing well. The 'Top 10 tips' edit posted above is a fixture which most of the international editions follow, but not the American one, until now.
She knew Serena already covered a few of Bazaar's rival magazines and when you ignore the bling, this pose and styling are nearly identical to that of Vogue. But she needed a different angle and that was to add lots of gold and publish it 'unretouched.' Not sure who those are supposed to resonate to, but I can't imagine it's the Bazaar woman.
The magazine partnered with Bobbi Brown for a 'no-makeup' makeup section. It starts off with Yara's edit, and follows that up with a survey on how women regard beauty products, plastic surgery, wellness in the social media age. Then there's a story on under eye rejuvenation and the gist of it is Botox & fillers = good, extensive plastic surgery = bad. Make of that what you will. It would all be rather cute and maybe a tad earnest if it weren't for the many Maybelline and Juvederm ads right before the 'Real' section starts.
