odd it's a february issue, as it strikes me as very festive and holidayi-sh, with those mega watt bangles. all the more to bring out mcqueen's dazzling baby blues

even with celebrity covers and editorials there's always an element of daring, unexpected cheekiness and excitement with those vintage HBs. such out of the box cover concept wouldn't even be touched for a subscribers cover of HB today, let alone newsstand issue.

and wow the cover lines are tastefully done and restricted to only one side. it's refreshing to see the cover subject and the fashion (accessories) getting equal star treatment.

wonder who styled this? it'd be interesting to see the masthead for this period...

Oh God I'm hyperventilating I hope this isn't off-topic, but wasn't Avedon working with Diana Vreeland at that time? Those eds he did with Polly Mellen & Twiggy/Penelope Tree..they're from Vogue right?
