US Harper's Bazaar May 2016 : Jennifer Lawrence by Mario Sorrenti

Whoa, this is simply shocking! You have Sorrenti, and this is what we get? A blurred, out of zoom, too up closely cropped cover image? Not to mention she can photograph 100 times better than this, sigh!

I have seen red carpet shots of her that would have made for a better cover!

Must admit that I'm not overly fond of the cover either. It's definitely bland when compared to Jennifer Aniston's from last month (assuming the cover above is for subscribers). I'm eager to see how the newsstand cover turned out because the colouring here is horrendous. This is just so.. flat!

Her first Bazaar appearance?

Indeed, which is weird in itself!

I'm not sure what is more surprising, the idea of Jennifer and Sorrenti for American Harper's, or how weak the result ended up. Even with an esteemed photographer they still fail to get it right. It looks like a botched cut-and-paste job done in haste. Let's hope the newsstand cover will be better.

Wow, the newsstand cover is bad on so many levels. I have to cover it with a thumb while going through the rest of the photoshoot.

Wow, as hollow as her campaigns for Dior!! Why did they even bother going for Sorrenti?

How sad that that Glenda and her team are incapable of utilizing even a great team like THAT, in order to produce something good!

My god, those imgaes are outtake worthy at best, both covers are such a let down. Allure does better covers these days.

So is this is a Dior promo cover & editorial? Sorrenti shots the handbags campaign, is this a special commission from Bazaar or did Dior shoot and editorial and then sell it to HB?

I like the subs cover but the newsstand is so awful imo, that lipstick with that color scheme

What an odd editorial. It's very, in my eyes anyway, clearly done to promote the lipstick. It's what I notice first about every shot.

Funny you've mentioned that because I just received the special Harper's Bazaar Best Covers 1867-2011 issue and inside Glenda Bailey writes about how unique and through-provoking Bazaar covers are, mentioning the risks they took with the Julianne Moore cover from January 2006 (a risk which ultimately won them an award). Yet fast forward to 2016 and the covers Bazaar are churning out now are BEYOND generic and tiresome, with such a decline in quality.

Well, the newsstand cover is not that bad considering what they usually do. The layout is ugly, but overall it's not an eyesore.

The ed though... My gawd.

It's as if there were only five celebrities in this world. Same celebrities month after month. Zzzzzzz!

Ikr!! There's so many interesting women and stuff happening on the telly right now. But it seems they're hell-bent on the same tiring rotation of movie and pop stars.

Another low for Glenda at HB. It's almost embarassing when you realize that the UK edition had alsoa white background and a beautiful girl on the cover.
The results are disturbing.

Seriously, they better give the job to Carine. I don't understand her work for the magazine anyway so why not?
This magazine is so cheesy that i wonder why Tyra Banks did appeared on their cover already.

I really really don't like it when Bazaar utilizes covers with background colors. They are bearable whenever they use the plain white background.

This shoot is okay, but they had Mario Sorrenti and J.Law.... This makes her latest US Vogue editorial and cover look like an award-winning cover. The images look undone, no? I would have used the shot where she had her mouth on her face. It's quirky, it's sexy, and it's fun. I like it.

Ah Vogue28, I suddenly remembered that Bazaar cover with Julianne. That was gorgeous!! Gorgeous! Compare that to this..
