Maybe they wanted Fan BingBing over Angelababy but no one can find her :(
It's an OK cover and the Western acknowledgment of Nollywood, Bollywood, and films outside of US/Europe is a good step in the right direction (albeit unnecessary in the grand scheme of things). I've never seen a Western publication attempt a worldwide casting of actresses that don't appear in Western movies so I applaud this effort.

    BUT WHERE IS YALITZA?!?!??!

I loooove Doona, so happy for her but also why couldn't her or Deepika be in the middle? If they really want to promote GLOBAL diversity... ugh

It's true, Yalitza would've made a lot of sense. She definitely should've been included.

It would make much more sense if FBB was the original casting, consider her super status before the scandal.
But according to her fan's resource, she wasn't in it.
Besides, again, Angelababy's landing on US vogue, i believe, is largely due to her relationship with Dior, with whom FBB rarely cross path.

At the end of the day it’s American Vogue so of course why wouldn’t you have your American representice (Scarjo tho? Really) front and centre.

All I care to see at the end of the day is Doona.

Scarlett: yes, I've nailed this! She looks very satisfied. Not my cup of tea.
The cover doesn't have any presence, a pity.

Yalitza would’ve been perfect for this  The only logical reason for her not being part of this line up is because Anna is saving her for a future solo cover. But who am I kidding, even pigs will fly sooner.

There, I corrected it for you! :winkiss:
Agreed, I'd love to see her on the cover of American Vogue. A smile appears on my face each time I see an interview with her. She's just so refreshing and always keeps it real.

In what universe? mikel was right the first time. If Yalitza was going to get a cover this would be the cover she would get. We can just chalk this up to another one of Anna’s many fails.

    Anna is so clueless.
A beige effort for an all around beige magazine.
We're not the only ones questioning this:

Critics slam Vogue's 'global' talent cover...

'Johansson’s inclusion is particularly controversial, given past accusations of cultural appropriation against the star. She received backlash after playing the lead in 2017’s Ghost in the Shell, the film adaptation of the popular Japanese manga, rather than an Asian actress. Johansson’s casting recently inspired Sandra Oh’s joke about the whitewashing of Asian roles at the 2019 Golden Globes.'

^ I called that happening. The worse part is ScarJo’s quote at the end of the article. Ugh at ScarJo’s tone deafness. That article could be just the beginning of a backlash the more ScarJo’s quote gets around online.

Has anyone mentioned that Scarlett looks 15 years younger in this cover? Is it just me?

    Very beautiful!
    Very chic!
I like the ed and seeing Lea in Prada makes me smile...
It’s weird to have two faces of Vuitton on the cover...

As for the controversies, at this point, it’s so expected than it becomes boring. By making everything a subject of controversy, we are not focusing on real shocking things.
And the debate of diversity... We’ll never be satisfied. Even if US Vogue is probably the most diverse of all overall, it will never be enough.

Are people still upset over Johansson playing that role? Would anyone in their right mind turn down a big amount of cash? Give that woman a break. If you need someone to whine about over that awful movie, it's the casting directors.
As for this cover, I don't see what the controversy is about? It's diverse, it's spring romantic and it's pretty. The women are random and I only ever heard three names out of the bunch but whatever. I need to see this Karl tribute and it better be worthy unlike that tragedy Farneti put together.

They gave her the Teen Vogue cover in the right time because some people and media (in Mexico too, sadly) doesn't see in her a future as an actress

I actually love the cover. It’s a fold-out correct and not two covers?

It’s refreshing and some new for US Vogue. I’m soooooo soooo happy to see Doona Bae. I loved her ever since Sense8. Plus, I have a soft spot for ScarJo. I just love her and her questionable decisions. I’ll be picking up several copies come next week.
