US Vogue August 2019 : Ariana Grande by Annie Leibovitz

I need explanation on why shooting outside if at the end they settled a white background ...
Probably a Vogue gimmick to give a quirky feel to the editorial, I've noticed another one where almost every month there is an editorial where they put curtains as backgrounds that match the models clothes.

The content is actually pretty decent, especially casting wise.

Leibovitz should have been fired yearssssss and decades ago, however love to see Gemma and Joan together!!!! My dream would be to have an US Vogue cover with both of them and Raquel !!!

I thought my screen was playing up for a second when I first looked at the Annie Leibovitz story in #82, so unbelievably drab and dull in terms of the colouring. Although it's a classic studio-shot American Vogue editorial which I cannot help but to love, and also like the casting too, a good mix of regulars and newbies.

Thank you ever so much for posting for us, @TZ001!

''All In One'' is so beautiful! The girls all look great.

'Check, Please' is so Leibovitz at her best. Phenomenal cast as well. Paloma's shot, in particular, is such a standout!

The other eds are decent, "All in One" is a pretty good story, all the portraits are amazing  & "Check, Please", the cast is great, but all the girls look bored & tired.

It’s kind of obnoxious that every editorial in Vogue now is like a multi, multi, multi girl editorial so they can check off every single box on the diversity list. It feels a bit like being whacked over the head. And hard.
If it comes from a disingenuous place I'd agree with you, but I think whe should always celebrate diversity no matter what, especially from a magazine that not long ago featured one token black model and one token asian model.

There’s nothing in this world that I will celebrate “no matter what.” THAT’S disingenuous.

I only care about the quality of the work. So much of the degradation of the quality of work in fashion over the last decade has been, in my mind, a preoccupation with the “message,” the “intent,” or the “symbol” of a runway show, or editorial or ad campaign...almost always at the expense of the quality of work. It’s become a business of wokeness for clickbait purposes.

I have no issue with diversity within the pages of this magazine or on a catwalk. My issue lies with it tactlessly being shoved down our throats with a heavy dose of an agenda...rather than just naturally, spontaneously and beautifully incorporating different faces into the magazine.

When every issue looks like a checklist, I check out.

What you’re saying is no different than someone saying they don’t mind if someone is gay but they don’t need to have a parade about it. Representation doesn’t just “happen” it hasn’t ever “happened” actually until people actually started being conscious of the fact.

You “don’t mind diversity” just as I’m sure you didn’t mind when every model was Eastern European a few years ago because I’m sure the “quality of work” was just amazing.
