Valentino Resort 2026 Milan | the Fashion Spot

Valentino Resort 2026 Milan

This reminds me of a Valentino campaign from years ago with Angela Lindvall and Kirsty Hume that that was shot from an overhead perspective, with the models lying down - it was A/W 1998 - and it was so lush, it remained in my mind for ages:

If I'd never seen that, maybe I'd be more into this presentation, but for me, it's like a reminder of how far Valentino has fallen.

132 is a lot, certainly too many, but I quite like how he cleaned his messiness, at least for womens', menswear is still giving us some ridiculous lampshades.

Given the state of fashion produced by conglomerates and the creative low-bar, I'd rather have good archives that an awful collection.

unpopular opinion knowing how Michele has been bashed for his Valentino since he started but for me, I am beginning to warm up.

I actually quite like him toning down, perhaps tweaking on his previous Gucci, a little similar but there is also a marked difference.

It isnt elegant (save for the red carpet looks, I guess?) but more casual and fun.

But I have always like boho chic, folk, ethnic, vintage-looks (but I dont shop at thrift shops, it is just a personal preference dont hate on me), Romeo Gigli, DVN, Antonio Marras, some Chloe, etc so this kinda fall under those somewhat.

Those suede, tassled stuff arent going to be the next IT bags because the tastes arent really exactly how most people globally defined `luxury` these days anyways.
Admittedly, they arent the easiest to wear unless you lead your life in that kind of look, but I do like what I am seeing here.
And it is miles better than what PPP was for Valentino, to me at least.

The clothes are very dreamy and whimsical, which is fine, but what shocks me about this collection is how weak the accessories still are. I can't believe they are pushing the same styles from his first collection! Mind you, the same styles that flopped at store level. And instead of pivoting to something else, they have added variations on those same styles. Make it make sense.

Indeed he’s toning it down, but it only lays bare how completely misaligned he is with the ethos of the brand. If only he opted for a slightly more mature model it would help a lot. This mousey nerd playing in her fabulous grandmas closet will never reach her level of elegance. That’s what this is giving. These kids feel insincere wearing these clothes, as if they went to a thrift shop and selected some tacky dresses to do a shoot in
