Résumé: Axente is already a decade into her career, after being discovered aged just 12. She opened the Prada FW12 show at the age of 17, and has worked with everyone from Chanel to Calvin Klein.
I Had No Expectations About Fashion... I grew up in Hungary, in the mountains. Fashion wasn’t part of my life before modeling – you had to go to Austria to buy fashionable clothes – so I knew nothing about it when I started.
I Was Very Young When I Was Discovered... My agent found my older sister, Benedetta, on Facebook, then signed me, too. I was young, but I think it was easier then. Social media is so important now, and there are so many new faces; when I started working, we were always the same group. Now if I do a show, I don’t know anyone.
Japan Influenced My Skincare Routine… When I was working in Japan the makeup artists gave me the best massages, so now I wash my face with cold water every morning, moisturize and do a five-minute face massage – it’s so good for your skin. I never used to use much at all, but with all the flying my skin gets so dry, so I make sure that it stays hydrated and stick to a routine.
Blazers Make Me Feel Powerful... When I was younger, I liked seeing business women wearing blazers, and they still give me that strong, feminine feeling. My style is casual but elegant and I like to keep it simple, so I’ll wear a boyfriend blazer with jeans, a T-shirt and some sneakers.
I Want To Be An Architect... I put my studying on hold when I started modeling, but I’m hoping to go to university next year. I hope to start my own business so that I can stand on my own two feet; fashion is a great industry but you’re not in control, and I find that really tough.
