Such a delightful collection, imho. I always adore her style...the way she breathes life back into all these relics. It's always such a wonder to me...I love it so much

One night, some time ago, we bumped into Victim designer Mei Hui Liu out on the town. After a few (too many) drinks, a good friend began to rib her, suggesting that she should adopt 'more lace' as her catchphrase. It seems that she has - her press release warns us to expect just that.
Victim garments are pure fantasy. They aren't really about fashion or trends for there is little variation in overall theme or inspiration. They are, however, about decadence and looking ever so pretty.
Antique crochets, laces, knits and ribbons are collaged together in beautiful skirts, dresses, capes and blouses. Texture abounds, flounces ripple, and pieces of sparkling costume jewellery and sections of old-gold belt nestle between ruffles or create cinched silhouettes.
This season, models were made to look ethereal, with white faces, powdered up-do's and fluttering 1920s fans. Breaking with tradition, Mei Hui has introduced black to her collection. She has also introduced red and blue into a flamboyant Union Jack Flag dress.
As a whole, a Victim collection evokes the kind of pleasure one might experience upon exploring a dusty loft and finding a creaky chest full of garments from more elegant times gone by. A total treat.
