Victoria Beckham Resort 2024 London

Why bother? At least once, about 10 yrs ago, she used to cater very clearly the woman who lunches, what is this pseudointellectual mess? I get the phoebe philo's celine very tired reference, but why twist it into such an unrealistic confused woman, where is she even going?

indeed the styling is impeccable. I see extremely chic pieces - most of the dresses are so sleek and elegant! but it’s giving Zara Atelier at the same time…

who designs for VB?? is it a team of people or one ghost designer?

(some years ago a friend of a friend used to brag about how her mother was behind VB’s collections… I never really bought it for some reason but we all obviously know Victoria doesn’t draw a single stick)

It's a decent collection but she should work on presentation. The photography makes it very pedestrian.

It looks like someone took Davis' last collection at Ferragamo and slashed into it diagonally several times.

Let’s be honest, in terms of pure products, it’s very good.
I think that since she has shifted to a contemporary instead of luxury positioning, what she does makes sense.

The real problem with this brand, and it has been the same since they started to grow from the 10 dresses, has been the identity.

She needs to do some self reflection and be honest about herself, her brand.
She started in 2009 and kudos to her, we are in 2023, she proved that she wanted it. More than any celebrity, she proved that it wasn’t just a hobby or an opportunity. The brand only started to be financially stable recently…

‘But she is her brand and it needs to be reflected on the lookbooks and the pieces chosen.
Even if the clothes reads Philo, the styling needs to say VB! It has to be even to the point of caricature!
I remember Donatella sending clones on the runway.
The problem when you see the lookbook is that you couldn’t picture her weating this that way.

She needs to take advantage of the fact that she is the biggest asset to the brand

Can you really say she’s the brand’s biggest asset, in 2023?

Nothing against her, but her and her husband’s relevance of the early 2000s are nowhere— if even prevalent, in 2023. And even nostalgia isn’t going to be generous to them, the way that it has been for John Kennedy Jr and Caroline.

I do agree that this is the sort of offering are very solid staples— Phoebe’s Celine leftovers and all. Inserted alongside other similar Celine-esque brands like Philip Lim/Derek Lam/Proenza, none would be the wiser. And that really isn’t necessarily a criticism, nor a bad thing. Everything looks solidly tailored, constructed and the materials look good. Designs like this are the epitome of beautiful, strong tailoring and dressmaking, and ideally, not reliant on the brand’s CD and its cult pf personality. And nowadays, that’s a compliment and not even a backhanded one. If I were a woman, I’d wear these; I just wouldn’t pay retail for it. The brand is not at all the main attraction here, it's the no-nonsense separates that fuse effortlessly into a women's existing wardrobe. And that’s also not a backhanded compliment.

(A quirk that really bugs me about her is that she’ll offer something solid— in a previous collection it were these really good, chunky knits; but then there’re these distracting strings hanging from the sleeve as an ornamental flourish. And it’s so pointless and forced. With his offering, there’re these flaps hanging over the hem of the sleeves of the green dress. It’s all so tryhard kooky and that’s not what she and her brand is. Sheesh.)
