Victoria Beckham S/S 2017 New York

Honestly, I can't think of a single look I enjoyed, but I have to appreciate Victoria stepping out of her box...

Perfectly edited collection from start to finish. All those different materials; velvet, lace, leather, even that crushed silk, look luxurious and stunning. I mean; when you can make me love velvet, you have done something right.

The messenger bags looks are fantastic, same for those soft bags. Its easy elegance at it's best! So many of these looks also look so much like what VB has been wearing lately. Loose shilouettes, pieces that look thrown on, oversize shirts & trousers. And the flat canvas boots are perfect. Also very beautiful colour palette, that mint green!

I only dislike the floral print! Really hate it in this otherwise cohesive collection.

She needs to know her niche, and her nice was wearing clothes elegant women wanted to wear in real life. Not making watered down Celiné ripoffs.

^true, her early collections were such a such a great starting point, but now everything looks so unappealing

i just see celine's last pre-fall and their last show

i don't usually like her stuff at all on the runway (though it looks good in the store) but this is lovely! i love velvet though, so..

When you're copying someone, you needs to do with convictions and confidence. On most of the collections at NYFW, it shows a lot of weakness.
Nothing in this collection tells you it's by Victoria Beckham: bland runway, bland cast, bland clothes.
Asymetry, deconstruction and elaborate styling isn't enough to make a good collection.
Céline, Stella McCartney and Helmut Lang (the bra cups from spring and fall 2001) are clearly the "inspiration" of this collection.

I know, it's very "hype" to reference those designers. It makes you "serious" or at least "believable" as a designer. Victoria has always loved fashion but you can't tell when seeing that. It doesn't says a lot of things about her taste... Oh well, she likes wearing bath mat-like-velvet dresses.

Bad on so many levels.
I'm really tired of those collections based on Vogue.Com collections archives.
If you want people to spend money on your clothes, at least spend some time to actually design them!

Visually, I like to look at Victoria's collections, her production is always exceptional. I also give her credit for experimenting each season, there's always an idea behind her work. Such as the use of silk and velvet, which are difficult fabrics to work with. But the technique of intentionally wrinkling the fabric only appears to work on some of the looks not all of them. And what I believe are crossbody satchels make many of the looks heavy. However the second to last look on Kirin, works for me. It's always a back and fourth when it comes to her collections.

I usually enjoy watching her shows but those boots and the floral prints are absolutely hideous.

The footwear was a massive no. It annoys me so much (particularly in New York) when designers purposely style their collections with ugly footwear just to be 'serious'. Otherwise the colour palette was all over the place, I hate velvet so there's no swaying me there, however not everything is a fail and I'm sure Victoria will look amazing in these pieces.

Victoria could be the voice of the fashion NY woman, but she always playing safe, hiding herself behind this "sophisticated" vision. For a woman who lived intensely the 90's you would expect a bold and passionate statement for fashion.
In the beginning I thought that she would choose the slow way to show her ideias, gain the confidence of the media and the clients, and then start to show the "real her". But this isn't happening. It's sad.
She is selling, anyway, but not 'fashion' material.

It's so boring. Everything looks dated and matronly, the prints are a mess and the colour palette is all over the place! I don't mind the umber and navy together, but they look odd with that depressing pale blue and bright orange and downright terrible with the girly prints. The accessories are hideous and ungainly and weigh down the whole look.

It's just a sad mess

This is closer to the original idea of the VB brand, and, therefore, better than her last few outings. She's still trying a bit too hard to be on trend, but the shapes and silhouettes are more fitted and flattering, which I welcome. I also like the different textures she's used throughout the collection.

I am reminded of Wang's infamous and ghastly final collection for Balenciaga at first glance. I do think that velvet, silk, and satin are the trickiest fabrics to work with in ready-to-wear and I applaud her for taking that risk. I just don't think it worked to her favor though.

There are some interesting looks and pieces though, like that three-toned beige white and black pleated skirt and the dress on Ondria. As a whole, it's quite weak compared to her previous collections.
