Vika Gazinskaya S/S 11 Paris

There is a weird, surreal stiffness to this which is actually quite appealing.

:sick:I actually hit the sense of proportion.
This seems like a tacky attempt at trying to be innovative.
That sheer blouse, with the balloon sleeves is horrid

A designer who is new to me I must admit.

I just viewed her AW10/11 video on her site and this season's collection does look to be quite a leap forward in her design vocabulary.

She's taken two quite obvious signifiers - those boxy double breasted jackets with the contrast colour lapels clearly evoke the 50s; and the bell bottom silhouette call to mind the 70s - but not only is that a confluence I don't think I've seen played out anywhere else really (no doubt someone will enlighten me), but the work didn't feel in any sense retro, anything but.

I also see something of a clown feel and I don't know if it's that or something else but I thought of Comme without feeling it was obvious that I should.

So interesting work that I'd like to see more of.
