Viktor & Rolf S/S 09

it really is a shame.
im guessing they didnt have a choice to do the video...
no one would just NOT CARE and be arrogant enough to just "not bother" showing. especially at paris fashion week...

but the clothes are fabulous and i think very viktor and rolf but in young more summery silhouettes.

like the final look in this show from behind is a lot like the pink look from last years s/s show.

i do think is a strong collection and the video is really nice, specially the ending of it, when all the Shaloms are in the runway, haha.
but maybe they're doing this for another reason, i mean they just closed a store in Milan.
Maybe is not a good time for the brand.

style.com's review tells about the web show

If last season's Viktor & Rolf runway show was a rejection of the ever-quickening pace of fashion, the duo's new Web show, which Style.com exclusively previewed in advance of its October 2 debut on the label's Web site, was a proposal for an alternative. No invitations, no seating charts, no traffic jams, no endless wait. Not that creating the ten-minute video saved them much money: It took two-and-a-half days to shoot Shalom Harlow and a team of 57 to insert her along with her clones along the virtual runway. At the finale, the "models" stood in an array clapping before dissolving into so many pixels and evaporating into the digital ether.

Pixelation gave Viktor Horsting and Rolf Snoeren a starting point for the collection, which, at just 21 looks, felt a bit slim. On the obvious side was a white T-shirt with a pixelated dragon on it; more abstract and fabulous were the trio of Swarovski crystal-banded dresses accented with candy-striped rills of organza. (Speaking of man hours, those three frocks took four weeks each to hand-make.) Somewhere in the middle of the literal-to-conceptual spectrum were supersized versions of those organza rills on a dramatic cocktail dress, and various experiments in volume (a solid black coat and a dress in spicy shades of yellow, orange, and red that expanded and contracted in droopy tiers down the body). Many looks were shown with futuristic black-and-white tights.

So cheerful, noisy and stating more than revolutionary words. Pure abstract with the unique whimsy touch by V&R. I can't describe it. It was like observing a Pollock painting with soft waves in intervals to chill your eyes for the next piece. Beautiful crafted and the jewelry is simply dazzling.

I love absolutely everything about this.
I love the video presentation, the video editing, the clothes, shalom, everything.
I think this is a concept that could actually do well in the fashion world that is getting more and more crowded everyday. It would also be a good means for newer designers who can't afford to put on a show if this format becomes popular.

I see old Balenciaga, old Marni, old Cavalli... and not in a good way

i was so mad at them, when i read that they wouldn't do a show. but this is just too good to be sulky. one can wear it! when was the last time to say this about v&r? all those black looks, and the colours of the others...
it's a bit few though. i guess it's the problem with them. last season everyone was very harsh on them, so they just go "let's just make something great, but only half-hearted and don't show it, so they will see how fashion is without v&r."

Love Shalom and tickled pink over this. And big laughs at the people's judgements in this thread who have no clue.

I can't believe how wearable this collection is! I think it is just beautiful, especially the crystal dresses and the tights. Loved how they presented this season online: great music, great clothes, great shoes and bags, great model!! :D
