I couldn't believe it when i found out there wasn't a thread for this guy on thefashionspot, his photography is incredible. He uses film cameras and never edits his photographs.

"I think Viktor's work is exceptional. It's got shades of Terry Richardson and Juergen Teller with infusions of the style and aura of East London's, Brick Lane. He doesn't retouch his photos. Instead of relying on photoshop and heavy airbrushing he manages to bring a special "Je ne sais quoi" energy out of all his subjects."
"In a world where we are constantly bombarded with artificial images, Viktor Vauthier's photography is a breath of Fresh air. I constantly see images that have been photohopped beyond reality and I love the element of realism in Viktor's photos. The young French photographer, is based in East London and shoots using an old Compact 35mm Camera and he doesn't use any photo-shopping or any editing . I particularly like the shots by the old Truman Brewery on Brick lane.

Viktor is definitely one of the most edgy photographers I have seen and his work has an aesthetic that matches the edginess of East London Style."

i know right? its just so... raw, and pure, yet gritty. i could look at them all day.

Hmm..if he develops the film himself then that is some part editing - you get the chance to alter the shade...

I have to say I'm not that convinced with his photography yet- I think he has become popular just because the subjects in his pictures are very fashion blog-friendly..

Stumbled upon this set, I'm not sure what I think about it but I thought it's worth posting

many of Viktor's pictures have a feeling that they were taken by a bored teenage girl... The light, the kind of angsty feeling and who-cares attitude. I can't explain it properly. I'm still not quite sure what to think of him.

I was looking at his blog recently and he has really developed (oh frick, no pun intended) into an interesting photographer.

I love the way he shot this editorial with Edie, it almost looks like a movie, which I think is something to strive for when shooting an editorial -- being able to create a story in still pictures. I love the way he captured her in motion and from so many different angles, she really looks stunning.

It's obvious that he brings his own good taste and rock n roll essence to all of his work, but unlike some photographers it doesn't feel try-hard. Alright, maybe some of his early work did feel a little forced (certain models he worked with may have been as much to blame)... but he has since struck the right balance. Looking forward to see more of his work for years to come.
