Playboy Brazil have been celebrating 35 years with an online gallery of every cover shot since August 1975, when the publication started out under the title A Revista Do Homem and had covers depicting 'loving interaction' (first cover; Oct 1975) until July 1978, when it adopted the recognisable Playboy format. Wikipedia reports that this was due to censorship under the military dictatorship of the time.

Through the years, this edition has produced a high number of original covers, and promotes the national obsession with bottoms - although why use words, when there's one cover that says it all on that particular issue (second cover; May 1981)

Supposedly retro look - and price - for the October 2011 issue (dailymail.co.uk

It was among the most exciting periods of Playboy founder Hugh Hefner's life, so what could be better in a bad economy than to retrace the 1960s good times and give readers a break on the price of his magazine?

Hefner has slashed the cost of Playboy's October issue to 60 cents. The magazine normally sells for $5.99.

His editors have styled the men's magazine with a retro look matching 1961, when the first Playboy Club was founded, and linked it to the debut of the NBC show 'The Playboy Club' by putting star Laura Benanti on the cover -- and inside the pages.

'This issue is a love letter to vintage Playboy,' editorial director Jimmy Jellinek said, 'At the same time, we're also being relentlessly modern.'
