anyone in London this weekend?

VINTAGE HEAVEN

HEAD down to Lavender Hill on Sunday for a chance to pick up a piece of fashion history. Kate Moss, Vivienne Westwood, Eley Kishimoto, Nicole Farhi and Bob Geldof and his daughters have all been seen rummaging through the bi-monthly vintage sales in the Battersea Arts Centre and the first anniversary sale this weekend is set to be the best ever. With jewellery, shoes, accessories, vintage textiles and books from the early 1800s to the Seventies all in the most impeccable condition, there is definitely something for everyone. The Battersea Vintage Fashion Fair was founded by fashion graduates Anita Bott and Michelle Luk, who scour the country for forgotten fashion jewels. "Our aim from the beginning was to provide a professional, friendly environment for stallholders from across the UK, which in turn means those visiting the fairs get the pick of the best vintage pieces," says Bott. "There is nothing better than seeing someone leave the fair with an original YSL handbag or Chanel cocktail dress." Battersea Arts Centre, Lavender Hill, London, SW11. From 9.30am - 4.30pm. Admission £4. (May 18 2004, AM)

I wish I could go :(

i find that these types of events are great if you have a significant budget....because the vendors are vintage experts and are well aware of the value of the items they have and price them accordingly...there tend to be very lovely things but not really any bargains...it's more like going to a museum for me....look but don't touch... :P :flower:

:innocent:

so true, I rememeber my friend bought a vintage clutch from ebay for a couple of pounds, and we found the exact same one in the "vintage" section of Topshop for about £40

Oh yes! I agree with Rosie. I remember when i was looking for vintage stuff in London and i did go in Topshop and there vintage bags was a whopping £35- £40?? I could have gotten the same ones for a few dollars

Ive been to it before, it isnt as good as it is made out to be... but everyone has different taste right. :)
