VINTI ANDREWS: FASHION FOR THE URBAN JUNGLE

vintiandrews-girls.jpg

Vinti Andrews' fourth collection builds on her recent successes in London, Paris and Tokyo. It is inspired by camouflage, from the imagery of military desert-combat gear to the softer and romantic aspects of disguised appearance in the natural world. Patched together fabrics create camouflage prints which are combined with sheepskin, leather and silk jersey, the contrasting strengths and softnesses creating a striking silhouette.

Luxurious Winter coats in appliqué camouflage or in leather are finished with flamboyant collars in sheepskin or shearling. Classic cut dresses and separates in chocolate silk jersey are subtly gathered and slashed. These are teamed with customized raw edge vintage pieces or cropped pants with sky blue piping to bring in sport and street.

Quirky heels, customized with bright, slashed sportswear details, add a sport-punk edge and, should you wish, can be teamed with matching customized stuffed toys in street camouflage!

Love the idea of urban camouflage!

I like this a lot! Especially those shoes. Thanks for the tip Alura. :)

I like her stuff, it always has a cool look and some good ideas. I like her reworked track shoes

I don't understand the fixation on reconstructing Adidas and Nike symbol clothing, whether it's her or anyone of the other fifty designers who have done it.

appreciated but not my style at all... i find it bit boring to be honest

thanks for bringing this in alura :flower:

I mentioned her a few months back in the "independent shoe designer" thread, but she's not my cup of tea...I don't really like the reworked sportswear thing, I feel it was very i-D 1995.

 Oh Boy! That model is thin!

Thanks for the thread Alura :flower: indie designers need all the coverage they can get!

You're all welcome, all I did was just copy and paste something I found online haha. I totally understand i-D 1995, it also feels slightly rave and trance like (the housey vibe of the 90's), but I still like certain aspects of it. Could it be her response to chavscum and such? I think the 'problem' with some of the indie London designers is the thing that their clothing 'works' in an environment such as London's Soho but doesn't attract many people outside.

I found some more pics...

Amazing find, Alura. Definitely, an excercise in retroisms albeit iconoclastic london ones. Reminds me of old Bodymap as well. The tradition lives on...at least in Soho.
