Picked this up randomly while I was buying my vape flavour today, the first looked very lovely in print. The photo extends to the spine, which adds a lovely touch to the overall feel of the magazine. Once again, I applaud the quality of their paper and print - which is far more excellent than its superior editions. The cover story looks wonderful in print, even though I didn't really care for it from previews alone.
The theme that's woven through all the editorials and articles appears to be intimacy, there are articles about sexuality in art, film, a little bit about hedonism and female masturbation. There is an article about Miu Miu's collaboration with Catherine Martin, which I suppose might be a reprint. A Fendi advertorial also appears, if I recall correctly, to celebrate the anniversary of the house.
Editorial section includes what I assume is a reprint story featuring Lila Moss on a beach; a pedestrian Adidas story that feels very relevant to these parts, fashion-wise; a rather lovely beauty section featuring a moody beach story shot at dusk on Croatian seaside; a very simple studio session that reminded me of Claire Thomson-Jonville; and an editorial featuring nondescript androgynous young lovers which closes the issue.
Overall, I'm not impressed but I don't hate it. What I do hate is their selection of advertisers, which feels ridiculous to flip through. I kept a steady collection of their issues out of habit, but I stopped buying sometime this year because I noticed I would buy and shelve them immediately, without much interest in what the issues had to offer. Now I only purchase when the cover gets me intrigued, and this one did the job.
