When I read it was a princess I thought we're going to get a rather sterile "royal approved" cover, but I was wrong. This is very cinematic and luxurious.

The others covers weren't necessary to me. The first one makes a statement, particularly given the status of the model.

I love the main cover. It makes a statement, while maintaining to be very cinematic. Although, I must agree that it looks very similar to last month's cover (from the colors, to the setting).

The art direction leaves much to be desired though.

The other two covers were unnecessary.

Interesting how the English/Western cover is the more ballsy one, and the Arabic one playing more the the traditional ways of that region. I do like the red cover though! Very mysterious yet chic. I'm so tired of in-your-face brands on magazine covers. This one, and Porter's shot with Anja, actually makes me keen to investigate what the dress look like in full.

Thanks for posting this! And without a doubt, the entry of this magazine into their market was a public relations effort in the most crudest sense. I imagine they thought it would make them look good in the eyes of the fashion community, if not the international community.

I understand why Vogue went with this approach. Nobody can point the finger at them as it was endorsed by a royal. The princess does seem very progressive, so it should be interesting to see how she'll handle the backlash.

he cover of Vogue Arabia's June issue, featuring a Saudi princess lounging in the driver's seat of a red convertible, has drawn widespread criticism following a string of arrests of women's rights activists.
The June issue, which claims to be "a celebration of the trailblazing women of Saudi Arabia" features Princess Hayfa bint Abdullah al-Saud, the daughter of the late King, pictured glamorously on the front cover. It was intended to mark the end of a ban on female drivers.
Critics, however, have accused the title of being tone deaf, pointing out that at least 11 activists have been arrested since May 15, most of whom are women who have fought for the right to drive.

Manal al-Sharif, a Saudi activist who was the public face of the Women2Drive movement, and is now based in Australia, tweeted a video response to the cover, urging people not to forget the detained activists.
"These amazing women they fought for women's rights, they fought specifically in the Women2Drive movement," she said.

Thanks for posting, i didn't follow the issue closely, but reading up on it, it truly is insulting that they put her on the cover. I mean, my god!! How tone deaf do you have to be to make this choice, what was he thinking!!!
