Vogue Arabia May 2023 : Halima Aden by Youssef Oubahou

Hard to take this as a genuine and invested comeback considering the way she left. There was a scornful tone in her departure, so this has a lot of mixed messages and infers that her personality enjoys the whole publicity circuit. It is after all the industry that gave her success and the means to be a representative figure so now she's realised that it probably wasn't wise to tarnish her association with it and to go back to it. To put it kindly, she's a product of our time at least persona wise...

Great imagery though. Not really cover worthy so I can see why they have four of them but the white and blue is rather calming.

These are good shots, but despite her beauty I think she can be oddly unphotogenic. That plus her attitude and the fact that her face is all she has to work with as a model... like okay, she's back, but modeling still seems like a weird choice.

It is for now because she's doing it, it might be extremely immoral later if this comeback doesn't work out.

The use of the word 'modesty' on women's clothing irks me to no end, what does it even mean? so if you dress for a 43-degree weather, you're being arrogant?. I feel like adopting it: men in trousers? no thank you, I want my men modest.. in long tunics. Indoor sunglasses? just keeping my facial modesty.

Blame it on the patriarchy!

Comeback from where? I guess we’ll need read the article kkkk

Girl, please. We’re all going to hell. Enjoy the ride while you can.

Wow, thats the ed that should bee in vogue uk

The blue-on-blue cover is not giving the effect that I think they thought it would give. She looks like a floating head.

Halle deserved so much better than two digital covers. The last photo with the feathers would've made an incredible newsstand cover! She looks so pretty - and she's so talented. I can't speak for her acting skills yet, but she's an outstanding singer with two stellar albums to her name. I guess the Little Mermaid doesn't warrant as many pats on the back as disabled ladies.

I love the colours and mood but cover 1 is giving more of Conde Nast traveller than Vogue. Cover 2 is the best of all three then cover 3 has an awkward body and face positioning. Cover 4 is an overdoze of blue just like the ed which left my head aching. It needed some reds, metallics, greens etc.

Halle's cover and ed are stunning though its odd how Vogue is keeping her digital. Hopefully Anna is planning a main issue for her though it would be too late now.
