That's an awful image of Adut. The photographer has no idea how to photograph dark skin. The other two people are useless props, probably used to get white people to pick up this issue.
The thing about Australian media outlet, in this case, fashion outlet is that they hardly celebrate Asian or middle eastern beauty. And they never get called out on it.
The thread title had me excited because while I didn't know the other women, I've always wanted Bentley to shoot Adut for the cover. Turned out awful, I'm afraid. Worse than Lily's cover last month. The actor girl looks unfortunate from the fashion/hair styling to her height. They should've had a sitting group set-up to at least disguise the fact that she looks shorter. Here she looks like a teen whose Make-A-Wish dream came true to pose next to her two favourite celebs. Then there's the layout, which is equally awful.
@mepps I don't think that's entirely true. Bentley was responsible for this shoot, which was the reason why I hoped the cover would turn out great.

True to some degree, but from the top of my head Margaret Zhang had an Elle Aus cover, Shanina got InStyle and Vogue Brides, and since Edwina revamped she's given the cover to Fernanda Ly, along with numerous OG edits to Kelly Gale, Dipti Sharma and once again Fernanda. Just last month Fernanda had a huge OG edit in Elle as well. But I do agree that it can be better, perhaps.
The angles. The stiffness. The lighting. The styling. Travesty across the board. How did this image go to print? Nicole Bentley has been responsible for some decent covers but you gotta work extra hard to make Adut look bad and VA has managed just that. As for the other women. No words.
