Vogue Brazil April 2017 : Ellen Rosa by Giampaolo Sgura

Awful styling, awful facial expression, awful colors. A big no.

Yep, it's Burberry

I´m happy for her but everything is a disaster, specially her expressions... cause the styling is not her doing.

Oh dear. That first cover is just wrong on so many levels. Ellen has yet to impress me in print, but come on... this is like a bad joke. From the styling to the colors to her pose and expression. Second one is better, because her face is one in a million, but still drab as hell.

Yes, yes, and yes! Neither cover works for me. The first cover highlight the butchering of that splendid collection with her slouchy pose. Then you add to the fact that she's simply no oil painting, so the beauty cover is a miss for me as well.

This girl either looks amazingly beautiful or photographs terribly, there's no in between. Both covers are bad.

Second one is better, but it's still ****. And that hot pink is way too in my face with the toilet-coloration of a color scheme.

Sgura strikes again. Love Ellen but this is a classic Giampaolo cover mess. Styling, angles, and on and on..

Can never never never understand that someone like Giampaolo is employed, let alone shooting for Vogues.

His photography is the epitome of generic and nondescript catalogue style cheapness— and that’s being generous. He can’t seem to ever photograph a woman in her best light: When you have someone with a quirky sense of beauty, like Ellen (who’s like a Lindsey Wixson-type), you need to work with her unusual assets to enhance them, rather than pose her in the most tired of modelling-stance 101. He has no style of his own, at all.

I guess it’s not totally his fault that these editors continue to select the most unflattering shots of models to grace their covers, either. But I can think of so many better photographers, not just in talent, but in skills then him. What does this person-- the most untalented, most uncreative, and most unskilled of all Vogue shooters, have over these editors that he continues to shoot for their covers…???

His good looks? That's all I can think of.

In any case, the color palette, the layout. Everything is all wrong.

Part of the blame also corresponds to the awful art direction.

Whata on earth is this? How are these actual covers? Outtakes at best, horrible!
