Are we ready for a more commercial Roversi? Should he even, considering his strong signature, go commercial? I dunno. These covers are painful to watch. It's been interesting to see how the somewhat signature photographers are evolving with different brands and magazines thrown at them with the absence of Demarchelier. Some have prospered and literally gets better with each shoot (Sims & McDean), and others like Roversi struggle to tweak their style in order to appeal to a mass audience, which looks embarrassing.
There are actually other photographers who can tackle Testino's brand of mainstream, glossy glamour. Chen Man, Alexi, Demarchelier's son, Sundsbo. But for something different, why not go with Klein, Van Drimmelen, Wales or hell, even Sassen instead?
While this cover isn't as bad as Zhou Xun's one, it's still disappointingly dull and forgettable. And Vogue China needs to decide who they want to appeal to.
