Vogue Greece April 2022 : Carla Bruni & Helena Christensen by Nico Bustos

the individual covers are cute but the duo one fails in comparison - both of them should be smiling or both giving a striking expression. each one either way feels incongruent.

it’s good to see some supers back. let’s see the editorial.

That cover feels like a sign to hide the wine - all of it - before things go terribly wrong. You could try telling them they've already had enough to drink, but it might be too late.

I don't want them to ever leave. I don't want them to ever change. I want them to stay this THEM forever.

I could be buying this issue for the rest of my life and die a happy woman. Bruni. Christensen. Shoulders of giants.

:buzz:

The "other" 90s supermodels I'd say. I wish we could see a little of Yasmeen Ghauri nowadays as well.

Would have loved to see the cover with them together in full cover, but regardless, love seeing them both!

The duo cover is a fail, because Helena looks mad.
Their individual covers are fine, but again, Carla edges out Helena, IMO.

Given the fact models of Carla Bruni and Helena Christensen's stature are involved, I find the outcome of this incredibly underwhelming. Nico Busto's bland photography doesn't help matters and neither does the styling but this feels like a massively wasted opportunity at profiling two of the best!

The cover with Carla and Helena together is shockingly flat, lifeless (despite Carla's smile) and disjointed. The solo covers are somewhat better but still very underwhelming - especially for what is supposed to be a celebratory and joyous third year anniversary issue.

The B&W does not work at all. There is no artistry or finesse in terms of lighting and composition. It’s not enough to just make something B&W, there to be more thought put into it. The only photographers that truly excel in B&W is Meisel and Inez and Vinoodh. They are able to create depth and contrast. It may be from their background in shooting fashion with actual B&W film instead of clicking on desaturate in photoshop. With that being said, these pictures look one dimensional and uninteresting. A waste of two incredibly talented models. Just stick to textbook glamour and save the B&W for the pros.

^^^ Maybe because with the covers, you can still tell them apart from each other. Now with the editorial shots, the retouching is so hilariously excessive that in most of the shots, they’re stripped off any distinct facial features that they’re indistinguishable from one another…

The age of Instagram has young girls unskilfully maxing out on in-app filters that render their faces into featureless wax that’s accepted as some standard. The retouching here is at least skilled, but why editors of Vogues would sign off on such excessive retouching— and on middle-aged women to boot, is such a pathetic testament to the shallowest, lowest of standards fashion times we’re in.

(Don’t you just love that in this so-called era of “being yourself, being real, being authentic” rhetoric, teens girls are already getting hardcore cosmetic surgeries, while women are desperately trying to keep up with these children and rendering themselves physically and photographically into mangled cartoons LOL Shallowest era ever.)

And its coming from a magazine who did a 'no retouch' issue just last year lol

Great solo covers but a terrible editorial. Models of this calibre and you give them a studio set? What an utter waste.
