I couldn't agree more. The respect and dignity with which Vogue India approaches the human body here is exquisite. Lakshmi's body is not a thing to be processed digitally. It has agency, meaning. It has the right to be seen exactly as it is. Iconic doesn't even begin to describe Lakshmi as a model. She is, to borrow from Tori Amos, the fiercest calm. All confidence, no concessions. Look at her. How is she even possible.
