Vogue Italia February 2010 : Agyness, Daphne & Jamie by Steven Meisel

Agyness looks divine with this haircut, i wanna hate her but i cant this time..
The main editorial is way too small compared with the one from last February..typical Meisel thing...i love it nonetheless..

Vogue Italia annoys me... Each time it manages to make me love the models I usually can't stand! :) The main ed is striking, I'm in love

Interesting how i like all three of them, but that ed is so lame, and random, just stupid really.

The Three Women editorial is Meisel's half-***ed attempt at referencing Robert Altman's 3 Women.

The setting of the movie is the United States South West, so there you go with the hats and the bar. I am sorry that it is not as random as some of you would have liked it to be.

I think Jamie is perfect in place of the Shelley Duvall character but I wish he would have cast Tanya D as Sissy Spacek.

Daphne and the McQueen work so perfect for this theme because in the movie there is this third woman who likes to paint these surreal, demonic murals.

^Thank you so much for posting this. It's always nice to see the inspiration behind a shoot.

I don't like the main ed. Maybe I just don't get it...

Thank you so much Diciassette (17).

Thanks for posting the source of his inspiration, nike. I don't love the editorial, but there are some shots at the bar that resonate Meisel's earlier genius and that is what I like seeing. The shots in the studio are the strongest of the editorial but fails to add to the story-line, and as I look from frame to frame, it makes the entire editorial feel less cohesive. From seeing the trailer and movie stills together, i feel like the editorial should have been a much longer series of photographs, without so much focus on the pub and more emphasis on the relationship between these three women. The assortment of black and white and color photographs work against the editorial, as well. Overall, it feels like the tip of the iceberg to a greater, more meaningful project.

Thanks a lot D(17) for scanning.

This Issue would definetly not be worth $40 CDN to spend on! Considering they made the models wear S/S 2010 Blumarine on the cover...

Where is your head at Miesel?

I don't think Meisel have referenced the movie nicely to be honest, there's a lot of
room for him to shoot the 3 ladies in a more interesting way. The result of the shoot is just uninspiring .

I feel 50/50 about the main editorial.
Daphne looks the best in that ed imo, I like the hairdo, maybe it's because I rarely see her hair like that. Both Jamie and Agyness have some great shots of their own, I have to admit I love the one with Agyness wearing that Lanvin outfit!

Again, thanks for the scans!

There seems to be some kind of a rule behind the designers for the cover.
The last few years it has most of the time been like that (note: not always):

January - Gucci
February - Blumarine
March - Dolce & Gabbana
April - Alberta Ferretti
May -
June -
July - Roberto Cavalli
August - Blugirl by Blumarine
September - Prada
October - Giorgio Armani
November - Max Mara
December -

Also Ermanno Scervino very often.

I think Meisel could have done a lot more looking at those creencaps from that movie. Makes me excited about what this could have looked like and the cast doesn't fit the movie either.

I`ve just picked up my issue amd, i must say this is a fantastic issue. I wasn`t appealed at all by the cover, but the content makes it up.

^Does Vogue Italia still follow that designer rule?
I think so. And Vogue Italia is the only Vogue which has such an ed featuring outfits from only one brand mostly Italian brands.

Just saw the main edit and it is freakin amazing:woot:, Ive never been a fan of Agy with the black hair but for the first time I love it esp the shot in the Lanvin jumpsuit:heart: and Ive never been a Jaimie fan period but she is seriously working it in this ed!
