Vogue Italia October 2023 : Isabella Rosellini by Zhong Lin

I saw it today at the supermarket...it looks very nice...it was wrapped in plastic so i couldn't look at the contents...but the cover is good, maybe one of the best from VI this year.

My library's digital copy is showing 276 pages - the actual cover isn't looking so luridly orange, and it seems to be a gatefold with another image of Isabella inside (in the sweeping red garment).

There's a reprint of the Linda by Meisel feature from UK Vogue. There's also a new (to me) editorial, Un'Ottima Annata, shot by Ilyes Griyeb, styled by Cristina Firpo, with models Dagmar and Hanna, it's young girls working at a vineyard.

There's a one-page advert for Vogue Italia producing its own beauty box.

The fashion editorials open with the cover story, then a reprint of Pavarotti's punk editorial from UK Vogue, a reprint of Kate Winslet's cover story from US Vogue, then a reprint of Raquel Zimmerman's studio edit from UK Vogue, and also the Vogue Model Search editorial.

While the editorials are mostly reprints, the flow seems better in this edition. Each of the reprints has a distinctly different mood or style to the one before or following it.

All here for the placement of the font, too.

^^^ LOL Yes-- the type placement on the cover really is the only good thing...

On the one hand, retouching older women to have them looking like they did 30 years ago is just insulting (… but these women seem to be fine with it). On the other hand, what’s produced here isn’t exactly true to the ideal of showcasing her age, because the lines/wrinkles look really emphasized (by the Contrast tool in PS). Why it’s either one or the other instead of a middle ground is typical of the attitude these days, unfortunately (…like gayz possessing simple common sense and thinking for themselves, instead of hivemind ideology are now considered “Conservative Gays” LMFAO). The cover select is actually the best of the lot— because, the rest of the shoot is typical artsy-fartsy student nonsense that has poor Isabella resembling various props from a kindergarten school play. Literally.

The rest of the stories are forgettable and reprints. The cover really is the best image of the entire issue.

I just don't care. It's a good portrait of her (although I hate those Vsco Pre-set colours), but do we need this on the cover of a fashion magazine? Meh.

Stunning, one of the best covers in recent time. Then again, how could it not be, with her on it? :smilingwhearteyes:
