I gave up purchasing Vogue Japan this year since the editor-in-chief left, but I picked it up a few months later. I don't know... maybe it's the obsession or just a bad habit of buying it regularly. I fully agree that fashion editorial-wise, this magazine is done and long gone the day with fantastic original stories (thinking of those lengthy stories by Mario Sorrenti, Inez & Vinoddh, Mikael Jasson...), however, I still look forward to read something interesting inside the magazine, even just a few, which still makes me feel there is something worth my money. Well, perhaps because I understand some Japanese so I could appreciate the written content a bit more than just consuming the fashion editorials (which is almost zero if you buy US/UK Vogue).
I am really curious to see the October issue (which is actually the September issue in Japanese magazine market). Judging by the cover and their instagram post, they have done a new design to this magazine under the new editorial head. I want to see which route they are going now. It looks like they try to embrace more local culture just like the magazine was first launched during 1999 til August 2001 under the first editor-in-chief. The first thing I noticed this cover is they used Japanese instead of English for the main title (Fashion's New World), which is also reminiscence of the early era of Vogue Nippon. However, I won't have my hope too high, because it won't makes any sense if all fashion editorials will be reprinted from US/UK Vogue...
