Vogue México November 2023 by Emmanuel “El Chivo” Lubezki

Both covers have beautiful scenery! The models did NOTHING, with or without them, nothing changed...

The fashion NEEDS to be more extravagant to match the architecture. I adore Mexico City and I want to like this more than I do because the models add nothing to the shot. This looks like AD, not Vogue. Looking forward to the editorial though.

I wish someone would consider the possibility that editors for decades stuck with the conventional cover formula... because it worked. This doesn't work, not for Vogue and not for me. Other than that it is beautiful scenery, indeed.

GORGEOUS set of covers! I can't stop staring at this one.

What an improvement from their October issue with Sofia Vergara.

I love Lubezki's work but he really was made for kind of creating poetry in motion, for the big screen, it's that cinematic, you'd think that's gotta bring outstanding results in fashion because imagery IS fashion's main vocabulary so what could possibly go wrong, but you need to actually care about fashion and clothes.. it's not 50-50, and definitely not 20% fashion 80% context lol.. the models in designer clothes are not the props, it's 70% fashion, 30% everything else.. and you can't even tell what kind of makeup any of these models have on, they're that far :grinningwsweat:.. okay not to care about fashion but he could've done his homework and looked at some Avedon or Penn just to get an idea of the heights that have been reached instead of just eyeballing current standards and taking it from there.

Iturbide's covers are much better just because.. she's that superior. The cover with the white dresses (not posted yet) is gorgeous, now that's someone who did her work and went to one of the absolute best for inspiration: Deborah Turbeville. :blackheart:

Because... they're artists!!

I like them, they look like they are on a trip. Especially love the one with the stairs.

You can see what they were going for. Setting, beautiful. Mood, beautiful. Art direction, better. But the models ruined it for me.
