Vogue Paris December 2014/January 2015 : Inès de La Fressange by Mert & Marcus

The content is even more boring than usual. My gawd, just when I thought it couldn't get any duller they come up with this...

With this issue, we can clearly see that VP is really talented when it's about creating boring eds. Bravo VP  !

Everything "Ines" on this issue :)

Ines' daughter is very charming. Love that hair on her!

it's pretty hard to say like this - ie digital clippings, i d k what follows what, and not the real object/magazine - but this looks very underwhelming !

ines is beyond great in the david sims editorial - why none of these didn't make it for the cover makes no sense to me ...

and i'm soooo happy to see Elie in here ! just wish there was more about him, or an editorial with him, i don't know something "a se mettre sous la dent" (having something to eat ?) ...

but apart from that ... well this is ... ok.

oh yeah i forgot: emmanuelle's mother was a model - no kidding ! - i had NO idea (she talks about her in her hommage to de la renta) ...

btw is it just me or VP is getting more and more "tomboy" ?
i don't complain, i like it ... but i feel like in each issue since Alt started there's a tomboy/andro/denim+shirts editorial ...
is it really necessary to have a 12p. editorial (with a double page in the middle) about Ines' basics ? the "Marine Nationale" tshirt is ... I don't know ... I have a friend who own a similar thing, and she's been pretty ill-at-ease to wear this outside her home for years now (because of Marine le Pen ... I always this was stupid, no one would even pay attention, but she felt different) ... and the girl looks so depressed ! or like a young version of Jane Birkin, or Lou Doillon ... BxxxSxxx !

well to sum up: i don't even care about this issue (well Sims+Ines and Violette+Geraldine are nice, though)... but I'm sure it's gonna sell ...

Love this even thought it reminds me of something I'd see in Vogur Italia.

^My thoughts exactly. It seems like something Meisel/Carlyne could totally rock.

I'm always the first one to defend Vogue Paris/Emmanuelle Alt but I'm amazed at how lackluster this issue is and feel disappointed dramatically, actually. The two covers are the only redeeming quality. You can't even tell the Mert & Marcus and David Sims features apart. It's ridiculous how two separate shoots were commissioned as we received the same outcome. The fashion stories are a complete flop! Giampaolo Sgura's is fun.. I just expected so much more from a festive issue of Vogue Paris.

If even you loathe it then it really must be as bad!

This is easily one of the weakest issues of the year. Bear in mind that this a double month issue! I'll skip on this one without a doubt. Cant purchase it if there's really only one ed that's worth my while.

This issue is even duller in print that it is in PDF. I didn't get any festive element or feeling from it other thatn the Panoplies ed. Everything else felt forced, dowdy and more of the same.

OT, but the number of the year made its return on the spine. :P

^Thanks for the info, Melancholybaby. I do anticipate seeing the issue for myself, regardless of my previous comment inside this thread.

A calendar for 2015 would've topped the issue off nicely, Alt! Does the issue even come with anything in France? A supplement of some sort?

The Alt era is reminding me of Vogue Paris under Joan Juliet Buck.

^ Even that had more point of view, but essentially this is the worst guest edited issue VP has ever produced, imo. Painfully insipid, and it boggles the mind, because you have a woman with so much history, life, and energy, what went wrong?!!

^ Even that had more point of view, !

Well Joan is a world class journalist. Tbh I'm not very fond of stylists becoming EIC's. IMO the editor-in-chief of a fashion magazine should always be a journalist with a lot of class. Someone who can produce an elegant magazine that's also thought provoking.
