Vogue Paris October 2010 : Lara Stone by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott

LOL and they put Crystal eating a whole bunch of food... GOOD ONE!

Crystal's editorial is mind-blowing. There's something about it thats so appealing and healthy to stare at. I can't get over the shot with the octopus.
Vogue Paris does avant-garde like no other publication. Eniko by Sorrenti is a combination to be reckoned with, such masterpieces are created.

How many times will Vogue(s) do the jewels/eating thing. its so boring by now, surely they have something better to do with their budgets than waste all this food. for a 90th anniversary it sucks.

Seeing Visions in HQ makes me want to get this issue really badly. Sigh, if only I could. :(

I don't know if I like Festin or not. I find it cool though. Especially the first shot with the octopus. :)

don't really like Crystal's ed but 'Visions' is one of the best stories I've ever seen in a magazine, maybe cause it's the kind of photography I like

Festin with Crystal is my favorite so far. This ed makes me laugh (in a positive way): it's just so excessive, energetic and too much.

Eniko's comes in a close second: what a beautiful combination of colors!

Still don't see what's so 'epic' about this issue.
Plus, it looks like they tried to recreate Natasha's 'Péché de Cher' from 2004, also by Richardson, and failed in doing so :innocent:

I feel the same. I think what ruins the editorial for me in the end are the clothes. They just look so dowdy on her.

while i like Festin, what is everyones thoughts on all the sweaters being Prada? editorial or advertorial? hmm?

omg what the hell is that purple thing she's eating in the 4th pic?!:o:sick:
still looking forward to sims' ed.

^she's eating some black boudin ....
i don't like that either ...
it's basically made with fat and blood from a pork ...

"Festin" is a take on a famous controversial French ( Franco/Italian) film LA GRANDE BOUFFE that shook France in 1973. It is very relevant as the VP headline is "90 years of excess" :)
It depicted obscene banquets scenes mixed with sex intercourse. 2 indulgences that were frowned upon at the time:) maybe not so much now though. Times have changed!

I find Crystal's shots so tacky. Come on, take a "+ size" model, show her eating like a pig, & let Terry photograph all this mess! How boring, it's so cliche, so predictable.. Maybe it's meant to be ironic or whatever. Anyway, the other edits are good, imo.

From a French historical perspective, it is very relevant and not meant to be tacky.
As I explain in my recent post her obvious sexual way of eating, the obscene amount of food and her fuller figure is exactly what is required for this ed. La Grande Bouffe was an outrageous and shocking movie from 1973. France remembers it well and this is a tribute to it. Might not have the shocking factor that it used t have though, as we now live in a "societe de consommation".

I am not crazy about Festin (Richardson-Renn-Roitfeld) and to me of the three elements it is the styling (Roitfeld) that was the biggest misfire, there are some composition (Richardson) issues too but the styling is what is most egregiously wrong.

The notion of food, sensuality and excess are not all that unheard of and this does not have that tie in, to me it looks more like a college student after final exams going on a binge after being dumped by her boyfriend. A couple of pictures evoke some playfulness and one or two mildly display gastronomical sensualness, but overall it looks a chapter in a cautionary tale about one of the seven deadly sins or like phase one of a bulimic episode (bingeing).

With sexier styling (and not necessarily the plus model in a corset cliche), a lighter hand (while Carine screwed this up the most, another photographer presumably would have been less heavy handed and irreverent for the sake of irreverence) and perhaps the inclusion of one or more male and female costars would have had what I perceive to be the desired effect.

Yay, I'm a subscriber living in France and I FINALLY got my issue this morning. Vive la France and its postal system?

Black boudin is very good in taste and for your health, dear.

Eniko's editorial is seriously incredible, I love all the bright colours.
This is such a strong issue!
