Does the issue come bundled with a microscope?

Between this and Vogue Arabia's new cover I'm left wondering if editors are aware of the fact that because you can slap a Vogue logo on it, it's not necessarily a cover image.

Colors and mood are nice, but something about it feels... top model-ish

They've been doing that for years, and it's only getting worse. One of the worst aspects of the influence of Vogue Italia is how it's convinced everyone they're capable of producing astounding covers - all you have to do is put limited wording over a semi-interesting photo, and you've produced a cover that stands above all other covers, and this display of minimal effort is somehow saying something important.

That's why I've always had a fondness for old-style commercial covers - people sneered at them for being formulaic, but people worked hard at creating those formulas. Editing any magazine involves making an endless series of artistic and commercial compromises, but the tension of all those competing forces is what creates moments of brilliance, in the right hands.

This would be really cool for a digital or a bonus cover. The image is lovely, and the colors are beautiful, but it's all too zoomed out for a main cover.

one of the least in Vogue things in the whole world must be posing on a ramshackle raft.

I'm right there with you- at this stage I find myself longing for a formulaic/traditional/"boring" cover that's done properly with all elements (photography, subject, pose, art direction) carefully thought out, much more than half-baked attempts at recreating Franca's VI. For all his faults, at least Edward usually delivers on that front.

AMEN !!! I absolutely agree and indeed major magazines around the world and especially small Vogue editions try to recreate this minimal text over a weird or semi interesting image and they call it a day and pat themselves on the back as if they created an iconic cover loooool so foolish = so now lol

I’m pretty sure American Vogue has built many a ramshackle shaft, in order to photograph white models with the natives.

I was going to be mean again about the cover, but this editorial shut me up.
