They had Georgia last month, and I do think they generally use a fair amount of esteemed models. Probably it's not in their budget to shoot a top model more often? I don't mind local girls as long as they're showcased on appropriately. Vogue Thailand always turns out at least 1 or 2 editorials which I like.
They tend to use Thai supermodels/actresses 2-3 times a year pretty much like Vogue China recently used Shu Qi.
I do not think it's due to budget because some of the actresses they use namely Khemanit Jamikorn, Davika Hoorne, or Urassaya Sperbund are local superstars whose fame raise across Asia and probably more expensive than, say, Georgia![]()
I used worked in magazine and I was in charge for cover. In my country (I live in Asia) we pay the cover star, thou not all of them, except they're promoting something like a movie and it's a part of the publication. So they pay actresses for covershoots in Thailand? That's weird. I know they certainly don't in the West, at least not for fashion monthlies. Usually the celebrity booked for the cover yields potential fans and huge publicity as an incentive.
Tabloids do offer huge sums of money, but then the celebrity must have something really exclusive (pregnancy, birth, wedding, divorce etc).
