Vogue Ukraine December 2020/January 2021 : Luna Bijl by Liz Collins

She’s like Mar Saura here in Mexico, she’s been getting all the supplement covers of Vogue Mexico just because the insurances agency where she is the ambassador pays for them. LOL

I do get your point, but there are already so many as equally trashy cover personalities whose presence in magazines is not being questioned in a way like this, just because they part of the public showbiz (like Cardi B, Katy Perry, Kim Kardashian, Paris Hilton etc.). I only try to care about the final result - the visual experience, so if a cover by Kaki Swid or Katy Perry is nice enough, I won't care who they are and what they do - I will buy the magazine, as I did in the past. Not to mention how many models we love are of questionable and shady behavior, but we get past that as we love the outcome of their work. To name one, Naomi.

It's very simple - to keep the business running unfortunately. That's why I said each magazine has to set the standard if they are willing or forced to sell their covers.
Cardi B, Paris, Chiara have been around for a while and have accomplished some remarkable things.... you can't dispute them. I assure you they are not going around with dodgy agents asking greedy East Euro licenses to buy covers....

These magazines can find other ways to keep the business afloat. Companies selling the licenses of these magazines surely can not be happy with them taking a piss all over the legacy of these magazines. Thanks to things like this L'OFFICIEL as a brand name is completely tarnished (and the mother publisher is now close to bankruptcy), followed by HEARST licenses.... in a year if this keeps happening Conde's crown jewel is going down that same road.

This is not only about Kakis of the world buying these covers, a lot of untalented 'photographers' out there are queuing to pay thousands to land a cover of VOGUE.

Vogue Ukraine WAS known as any big photographer's dream publication.... and many of those top talent photographers were investing a lot from their own pocket to shoot for that magazine. Shooting yourself in the leg kinda situation here with the Ukraine edition, the only winner in this situation is KAKI who can now show this to her rich friends.

I'm confused by the uproar about this Kaki getting a Beauty cover. It's tacky for sure but y'all make it sound like getting a magazine cover is in any way an "earned" achievement. Lila Moss is literally on the cover of Vogue Italia this month for no other reason than being a daughter of Kate Moss. There have been countless of socialites, trophy wives, "activists", celebrity spawns, and other no-names getting fashion gigs based on money, name, connections, nepotism, what have you. How many times were covers paid for by movie studios to promote their new ingenues? To imply there's some kind of "honor" system in getting a magazine cover based on one being "deserving" of it is absurd.

There's quite a different interest in people wanting to see Kate Moss' daughter rather than a p*rn star like wife of a random rich person playing VOGUE and supermodels.

If this Kaki paying to appear on the beauty cover made Vogue Ukraine being able to afford Luna and produce that wonderful newsstand cover, I don't care about this unknown woman and I should actually thank her lol

Just putting it out there - didn't Melania get the cover of Vogue US in 2005 this exact same way? Her shoot was most likely paid for, and nobody cared about her in New York, let alone across the US. It was nothing but the money and status that made it happen.

Touche @dodencebt, and till this day that cover just never really made sense for that time, at least to my knowledge...

I looked up the cover today. It such a weird cover. The way she’s drowning in the Dior gown. And the way her face is covered by a veil. You can hardly see her face. Does not make sense indeed.

Don't know why people like anything here. Luna looks empty in the editorial and the styling is so basic and boring, a total bore and not in a good way.
Kaki does literally mean sh*t in Russian and that is what that cover is and Vogue Ukraine deserves for putting rich p*rnstars on covers.

Well said.

Also to think VOGUE UKRAINE actually budgeted that snoozefest shoot with Luna.... A big LOL to some of you who think Kaki's money actually paid for any production in this magazine.

All of these licences have for years survived on the NO BUDGET policy draining the money from the pockets of the creatives dying to have anything from a big license in their portfolio.

Festive and luxurious! I don’t mind that her neck looks as if it is being swallowed by the fur collar but who needs neck when you look this fabulous! I do, however, prefer the shot of the same outfit in on the second page of the editorial though. That looks more cover-worthy to me.

I'm with you - and I'm also putting forward the opening shot with the fabric from Luna's editorial as an alternative cover too - gold masthead, better cropping, minimal cover lines and you'd be good to go!
