It was sorta entertaining, I guess, but like others have said I’m really struggling to see the point of this show for Vogue as a business? What are they getting out of it? Getting celebrities to show up has never really been an issue for them, so what else? When they did those Fashion’s Night Out events, the bottom line was supporting industry and promoting designers. Here however it seems to be all about social media engagement. And is that even working? I didn’t even know it was happening until I opened IG this morning.
Probably and I’m pretty sure that it’s advertising money again. We continuously saying that print is dying so they have found a way to multiply their streams of income through that event.
I’m curious to know who are the sponsors behind the brands represented on the runway.
She is the queen of politics so Nicole Kidman on the cover of the magazine Wearing YSL is opening the show with Anthony Vaccarello on the front row, while wearing Chanel who she is the newly appointed Ambassador…
For me those events are more interesting in terms of power play than pure entertainment.
Hollywood is so dependent on Vogue and the fashion industry nowadays that this interdependence of those 3 industry is almost funny.
Beyond the event, it also create content for social media indeed. There’s enough for 1 month of content for Vogue with this event. Between the BTS videos, the « Get ready with me » videos. On IG the brands will probably post about their ambassadors wearing the looks. Done deal.
The problem with this event is that even if they are making donations everytime go organization (because somehow they have to justify their guilt), the whole point of the thing, which is purely politic and about the survival of Vogue as a cultural fashion force is less glamorous.
Nobody but Vogue needs Vogue World.
Also where do they go from here? If they don’t do Milan, Anna’s anti-Italian bias will be even more obvious
Surely Asia.
I think Italy is going to be tough unless the whole Italian fashion community really goes for it. Do they need it? How could it possibly benefit the Italian fashion community too..
Chanel, Vuitton, Saint Laurent, Prada don’t mind spending money for the LA show. They have American ambassadors so they are winning almost equally.
It will be interesting to see if Prada, Armani, Valentino, Dolce & Gabbana, Renzo Rosso and Fendi are willing to pour money into this…
I can see Asia being their next place. Then the question is: Japan? South Korea? China? India? All of them? But what will be the order?
All the annonceurs have K-pop stars as ambassadors so literally everybody could be a part of it.
