Several designers disagreed with the upcoming minimalism and decided to make a huge statement on the S/S 06 runways. And when I say huge, I mean huge. It was not on every catwalk, but it definetly caught my eye. More is more, as volumous dresses hit the S/S runways and left a big impression everywhere they went.

Big, bigger, Dolce & Gabbana

Some of those dresses are breathtaking - the silver tiered Oscar de la Renta and the second Chanel dress! The Chanel one in particular is so cute and flirty

I wouldn't be crazy about the Dolce and Gabbana gypsy/ cowgirl/ farmhand dresses though....the white one looks like something a saucy milkmaid would wear in a German p*rno!

Great thread Mr.Dale! :flower:

I must say I am personally extremely tired of volume in general... seen too much of it.. I am all for minimalism at the moment.

Me totally likes! But, the first Viktor & Rolf girl looks like she raised her skirt and she's like, totally naked underneath! :gasp:

But to me, that whole volumnious dress thing is more of an evolution of this year's full skirts... it's pretty anyways! :D

stunning dresses! shapes like these are really beautifull. thank you for the topic mr dale

I'm getting a bit tired of this but it's lovely nonetheless.

some of the Dolce & Gabbana dresses remind me of the ones Vivienne Westwood did for FW 05. :ermm:

I'm another one who's a bit sick of volume, but I will say this, it looks much better this season then it did last year with all of those bubble skirts. It seems like designers are loosening the volume up so to speak, it's a bit softer looking, more flowy.

Jeez.. the third girl at Gianfranco Ferré has been baking with the top on... BIG mistake. Does NOT look good. :yuk:

Otherwise, most dresses are fab. :woot: Maybe not the Dolce-farm-lolita-look, a little German p*rno, as rainglow said..
3 favs:
- Deepblue dress w. highwaist belt at Zac Posen.
- The rich colors at Gianfranco Ferré. LOVE the first skirt!
- Last dress at Oscar de la Renta (on Lily Cole (?) )

I haven't got tired of volume yet. Its just interesting to try as it feels completely different to wear as well as being really comfortable!. I like the drama of these dresses.
