W Korea’s insistent on doing the Steven Klein blue-filter route time and time again just comes off depressing— and utterly clueless to me.
Instead of dark and smouldering, it all comes off as gloomy and sad. Klein’s imageries are so provocative, sexually-charged and rich in texture that the blue-filter adds to his often sinister narrative. When there’s no narrative— not even a concept, as is with this shoot and many of their blue-filter images from past edits, it’s just simply depressing. May as well be W North Korea.
