    Charlotte,

Glad I could help! Let me know how you're doing or if you need any more hints. There are probably lots of little heel tricks we could share.

honest question intended with no malice towards anyone...

    can someone please enlighten me?...

i'm sorry, but i am fascinated by this...i have never heard of anyone doing this before and i dress people for a living..so i kow all the tricks...at least i thought i did...has anyone else tried this or heard of it...what do you think?...

it does sound like something that maybe a beauty pageant contestant might do... they put vaseline on their teeth and hairspray on their butts, so sleeping in heels doesn't sound so odd in that context...

honestly, no offfense, but it does seem like it could cause some permanent damage to your feet, no?

i'm just wondering how come i've never heard of this in all my grown years?...
    any thoughts? :flower:

So I know I'm sort of reviving a thread of 6 years ago, but I have a question as to what is the "proper" way of walking in high heels.
I've heard someone say that in modeling class, they were taught to land toes-first. I've heard the balls of the feet first. Also, most commonly, heels first.
What do you guys use, and what do the fashion models use?
I watched some videos of them but I can't seem to pinpoint how they're walking/landing.
    Thanks!

PS - I'm also only a beginner, I suppose you could say, since I've only worn heels like twice; (middle school grad and Christmas play.) I plan on (in the future, when I have a job) wearing heels a lot though, once I buy more than the one pair I own. LOL.

Thanks for reviving this thread JulieTao.
unfortunatly, I can't help you. I wear only small heels (no more than 7 cm or I feel unconfortable) but I'd like to walk in stilettos one day.
On a side note, is there a method to walk in high heel in the snow ?
Or maybe, the more reasonnable thing to do is to wear flat heel in this condition...

I've been wearing heels for ages, and I still look silly walking in them. Anyone know why some people can wear stripper shoes like they're sneakers, and others can barely wear 3" heels? I wonder if it has to do with the shape of the foot/toes.

I always thought people just got better at it the more they walk in high heels.. This was the case with me at least! :p

But apparently it isn't always the case.. So maybe it does have to do with the shape of the foot... I don't know...

I think I read in another thread on here that people with larger feet can walk better in higher heels, which sounds correct to me. Too bad for me, because my feet stopped growing in the second grade, and will likely remain a size 5 women's all my life.
Could be another reason why models are tall; because taller people have larger feet, and therefore can walk in higher heels...

Also on Glamour.com, I read that taping your third and fourth toe together shifts the weight to another part of your foot so it's more comfortable. I didn't believe it until I tried it!

I wear 8-8.5, sometimes larger! My feet are narrow though. Maybe my feet just have an odd shape. :(

Practice on wooden floors and kitchen floors. That way you get the feel of them and won't slip when you go out.

Start out with 2 inch heels and work your way up, until you find your limit.

Try those Dr.Sholl gel insoles for heels. They work wonders for me.

There're comfortable shoes and uncomfortable. Yes, heels are uncomfortable in general, but not aways. If your feet fill up the shoe, there's no problem!

Old post, I know, but it's exactly the same with me. It's actually weird because I have very small feet so I can't explain it to myself why I always trip over them

Unlike most other people that posted here I didn't start with kitten heels. Does anyone remember those godawful high block heeled canvas sneakers everyone used to have in the early 90's? Well, I was 8 years old when I got a pair of them. The heel was around 3in and being the crazy child I was I'd always play Chinese jump rope when wearing them. My mother cringed but I was very stubborn and there was no way I'd wear less "trendy" shoes outside. Anyways, I've always had at least one pair of high heeled shoes ever since then and I got a lot of training over the years, haha. By the time I was a teenager I didn't find it hard to walk nicely in them anymore. I do wear flats more often at the moment (I love flat boots) but I'll never get over how amazing it feels to be wearing very tall and sexy high heels B)

I can't see what the "high block heeled canvas sneakers are", but they seem like fun.
Are they these shoes that the Spice Girls used to wear ?
Could you post a pic ?

^Trust me, they were hideous. They looked similar to these and these, but even uglier
But now that you mention it, the Spice Girls Buffalo platform sneakers trend was even worse, haha.
