So what happens when Zombies get all emo on us? Well, there’s this unbelievable new movie called Warm Bodies which takes on “Twilighty” traits.

I hope they don’t sparkle too. Sigh. More pics and the plot after the jump.

WARM BODIES (2012)

Here’s the plot

When a highly unusual zombie rescues a girl from imminent death at the hands of his cohorts, their unlikely romance sets in motion a chain of events that will transform him, his fellow dead and maybe even the whole lifeless world.

The movie stars Nicholas Hoult, who was Beast in X-Men: First Class and it also stars John Malkovich.

It is also a book:

Warm Bodies is the debut novel of author Isaac Marion. The book was described as a "zombie romance" by the Seattle Post Intelligencer, and makes allusions to William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.[1][2] The author, based in Seattle, originally self-published the novel, selling it through his website. Atria Books, a division of Simon and Schuster, acquired the publishing rights in early 2010.

Film adaptation

Actor Nicholas Hoult was cast to star as the zombie R in a feature film adaptation, written and directed by Jonathan Levine. The film also stars Teresa Palmer as Julie Grigio, Rob Corddry as M, and John Malkovich as General Grigio. Dave Franco, Analeigh Tipton and Cory Hardrict also joined the cast.[4]

The studio behind The Twilight Saga, Summit Entertainment, is backing the film.[5] Bruna Papanadrea, David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman are producing, with Laurie Webb and Cori Shepherd Stern executive producing the project.[6] The zombies don’t really talk in the film, so extensive voice-over will be used to express their thoughts.[7] Director Levine sought to expand the zombie mythology by making the zombies better looking than in other films.[8]

Warm Bodies began shooting in Montreal in September 2011, and has a scheduled release date of August 10, 2012
