Anyone got any ideas for warm winter boots that aren't ugg boots (or from the ugg species of boot).

Help!!!!!

one of the things my mothre taught me is to look for something with a thicker sole...
the farther the soles of your feet ar from the cold, icy pavement the better...

*my tip...
buy a cute pair of boots a 1/2 size bigger and then wear warm wooly socks to keep your feet toasty...

rubber soles are a must for water resistance...

will be back with some pics if i can find some...

labels to check...
clarks, timberland, merrell, birkenstock, ...

*i know johonny made fun of me...
but i still swear by my blundstones in the snow...^_^

I think it looks great when you pait a nice thick colored sock with a boot as marc jacobs did in the FW marc by marc show.

johnny doesn't remember making fun of you...... :flower:

yes thats a good tip actaully......I have a black pair that are slightly big for me that might be good for that. I remember being in Paris in March when thee was an arctic snap & only having cons & shoes & I was miserable. I would have worn anything then just to me warm.

btw there is a lovely pair of red booties on the front page of the topshop website.

well, he did...
something along the lines of blundstones being something he wore in college or uni...
i don't remember exactly...

i noticed the red booties...
i like them in theory...
but i think the sole looks cheap...
i am very very particular about the way shoes look...
even if they are inexpensive...
i can't stand for them to LOOK inexpensive...
:innocent:

helena...do NOT even think about cons...that is a summer shoe...
you need LEATHER or suede to protect yr feet from the elements...

If you want some seriously warm winter boots, then check out La Canadienne boots- the ones that are weather-proof (ie. water and leak-proof)and lined with genuine shearling. There are some lovely winter boots in their line this year.If you don't need something that warm then, Hush Puppies carries winter boots, that have a pretty good lining. As mentioned before, a leather boot (not suede, not vinyl) with a lining will work, with wool socks mixed with a wicking material. For added warmth, you can pop in a shearling insole - available at cobblers.

sorry softie....you have a good memory. I didn't mean to be mean :flower: ^_^

Stevemadden.com has some styles, like the Denmark etc. - also, anything you can do to find a Vail, Colorado-based high end shoes place, I'm sure, would yield amazing finds.
