Warts

When I asked about it at the dermo he said he couldnt cut it off but he did liquid nitrogen. Charged me $160 for something that you can be for $5 at home.

I think the cost is worth it. Especially if you are having painful warts (like verrucas/plantar warts). I have tried the home remedies you can buy at the chemist's and it has only worked with two small verrucas after several tries.

When I had all of them frozen off at the doctor's (for free because I was in the UK) they went away and never came back until I went to visit my parents because my mum has them and is too much of a chicken to get them frozen off. I have tried multiple methods of wart removal I don't know how many times and it just does not work unless it's a really small one and even then, you have to treat it more than once.

i just took guessgirls advice and i used the upside down keyboard duster. my finger is frozen but lets see.

this **** is so embarrasing its like gone and it comes back in another spot in the same finger. wtf?!

I had a little wart on my finger. I went to the derm immediately and over the course of a YEAR, we went through six sessions of freezing and then four sessions of a needle that builds up your body's immunity so it'd fall off but none of it worked.

I still have the little wart, which I know I got from a manicure. Sigh!

I've tiny two warts on my hand, one went away after one freezing and the other took about a year!! I was picking at it in class, I tore it and it bled like crazy. It was so embarrassing.

ale cover it with something so it doesnt spread.

the first time it showed, I didn't know what it was so I bit it off and it bled like crazy. But now it's back. I heard that freezing hurts. Is it true? My friend said her 18 year old brother was wincing, and apparently it's hard to hurt him.

^ Yes, it stings and aches, but if I was able to bear it when I was a tiny, runty 15-year-old, so I am sure you can too. :flower: If it is verrucas/plantar warts you are getting frozen off, the verrucas can get a lot more painful than the 20-second freezing can.

Where are you people getting your freezing done? What type of warts are you getting frozen? Perhaps the people you are going to are not doing it correctly, it depends on the type of wart, or it depends on the person?

I was also thinking that since you pay the doctor to do it, you could have a dodgy one who takes advantage and doesn't do it properly on purpose. In the UK you don't pay because of the NHS and doctors are rewarded in their pay for correctly diagnosing and treating patients, so the doctor I saw had no reason to not treat me properly.

I mentioned it before, but my mum had loads of warts on her hands and it seems a witch doctor or something removed them all. She thought he was some psycho cashier at the time when he held her hands and chanted something, but they really did vanish.

Is anyone willing to try alternative medicine? I have heard very good things about acupuncture. My mum lost the use of one of her fingers due to stiffness after an accident and after acupuncture she can move normally. My uncle finally quit smoking after acupuncture, too.

I wouldn't recommend the cutting off. I tried it a few times and it only made them bleed, grow back even bigger and become more painful.

I've heard of things like this too. This is why I always go to Cleveland Clinic and not a private practice!

i got my first one at the age of 27 and its on my finger..its the same color as my skin and pretty tiny...

ive had it for a few months..i dont know what to do about it. will it go away on its own?

i think i might need a witch doctor!;)

I got mine done at not one, but two derms. I have faith that they both did it correctly but mine was just resistant to treatment, like they both said might happen as a lot of people don't respond to freezing.

i'm 21, and i've had a few warts when i was about 16 or 17. in australia we have several wart remover bottles you can buy at the chemist/pharmacy/drug store..so i used that and they would just go away. they would get pretty ugly when i put the liquid on them, so i use to just cover them with band-aids.

BUT now, i just got a whole bunch on my breasts!!! omg lol this is horrible. i have really large breasts and i feel like i've had a curse put on me or something lol just because it's so random and gross....
anyway they are brand new so are tiny and no one could notice them. but now i've put the wart remover on, they are all ugly. and my chest looks disgusting i'm not going to lie lol. i even have one on my nipple....guys keep wondering why i'm leading them on like normal but than turning them down haha. i did start sleeping naked this year, i wonder if that is the problem? don't worry i've since decided to wear clothes!
do you think the warts could be there from a guy touching my chest?
damn haha maybe the universe is trying to tell me to keep my breasts to myself? but thats no fun.

i got tired of waiting for the wart to go away on its own...my derm blasted my wart on my finger with that liquid nitrogen stuff. it fell off and completely disapeared within two weeks. the spray didnt hurt at all. now i cant even tell that it was ever there..

australian girl, i think you should go to your dermatologist asap. your nightmare could be over in two weeks. your regular doctor could even blast you with the spray....

^I agree,Australian Girl, definetly get to your doctors. I was plagued with warts for goodness knows how long on my fingers, and it took me a lot of courage to get to my doctors. Plus I had a hideous one on my foot. But as soon as the doctor did his freezing thing, a few weeks later they just dissapeared. I can't even remember the day when i realised they were gone but it was wonderful ^_^

Has anybody ever had any success with over the counter remedies? Cos I never found a product that worked

when i was about 7 i had a wart on my finger, close to the nail. i put some stuff like Wartner on it (it was some liquid which basically dried out the skin and made it peel off)!

last year i had one in my face!
i suppose if you've once had one, the virus stays inside you ? well, i tried stuff that my pharmacist told me (putting tea tree oil on it (to dry it out) and then exfoliating the skin with some kind of pumice stone). not only did it hurt, but didn't help at all and made it become very dark green, almost black. then i went to my doctor and got it freezed. it peeled off not even a week later. it hasn't come back ever since (not again, i hope!)

i would totally recommend you to go and see your doctor. even if you might be as angsty as i am - it didn't hurt and i was soo happy afterwards! :)
good luck! it will go away. just try not to make it bleed as all blood from the wart that spreads onto your healthy skin might result in another wart!

i just applied my wart remover i bought in australia years ago. it has expired but still did the trick! they fell off in about a week! thanks for your advice though!

helloo :)
eh since i started this thread 5 of them have completely gone, and i used duct tape.

i think it rots them and they fall off, not sore at all. I found the freezing to be a waste of time for me.

here is a selection from the article above about natural remedies

Parasite zapper: Originally introduced by Dr. Hulda Clark, it earned an “underground” cult following for its effectiveness in killing parasites, viruses, bacteria, etc. by emitting electrical current with different frequencies throughout your body (so if you have a pacemaker or any other devices regulating your health or body functions, or you are pregnant, it would be a very BAD idea to use this method). There are many models available but I like the model called MicroStimula. What you do is you attach electrical contacts to your wrists or close to the effected area with warts and let it run for 10-20 minutes. Because of the small electrical current traveling deep inside the body, it would be very effective as an anal or genital wart remover. Usually it would take less then a week (once a day) to see the effectiveness of this treatment but if you need more then a week, take a “week on, week off” approach. Use it for a week and take a brake for the next week. MicroStimula zapper is pretty expensive - $395.00 and it would be insane to buy it now for that price (I bought it 2 years ago for $120). Ebay has zappers that are as low as $30 so you should get one there.

9V Battery: If you don’t want to spend money on a zapper, do what some people did. Get a 9 volt battery and attach 2 isolated wires to the contacts (1 for each contact). Make sure they have protective shielding so when you take the wires with your fingers, the electrical charge won’t travel through fingers into your body. Touch the mole with two open ends of the wires at the same time so the electrical current goes right through the wart. It doesn’t take very long to kill HPV using this method and it will be a matter of days before the wart dies and falls off.
Apple Cider Vinegar or any other type of vinegar: A LOT of people have a huge success using apple cider vinegar to remove all types of warts. Take a cotton ball or a q-tip and soak it with apple cider vinegar. Press the soaked cotton to the mole and tape it with a band aid or duct tape. Do it every night before you go to sleep and the problem should be gone in no time. The truth of the matter is, you can apply anything acidic against the wart and it will do the trick.
Lemon or lime juice: Apply the juice of these fruits on the wart. Just like with apple cider vinegar, you can tape a soaked cotton ball to the mole with the duct tape. You can also drink lemon or lime juice to help with healing, as many people found out even drinking them along sometimes is a good wart remover.
Duct Tape or any other waterproof tape: The idea of this wart removing remedy is to cut off any oxygen from the mole and it will soon die. Tape the wart very tight and replace the duct tape every couple of days. Some people use a super glue or a clear nail polish and then cover the mole with the tape to insure no air is getting to the wart. Super glue or a nail polish even works fine without the tape. This remedy doesn’t work as fast and it could take from a few weeks to a month to see the results.

i have to say i found the battery one pretty hilarious lol

hope this could help...:flower:

When I was younger and had a wart, I read about marigold plants being good to get rid of them in Culpepper's herbal book. We had some in the conservatory so I mashed up their leaves and kept dabbing them on the wart. It went away within a week. Not sure if it was by chance, but it really did go!
