What do you all think are the best running shoes?
I have just started running again and my legs are killing me, I haven't been wearing running shoes because my old ones are wore out. I want to get a good pair this weekend.
Please let me know what you all think. thanks!:flower:

In high school I was a cross country and track runner. After yet another pair of Nike's fell apart on me, I switched to Brooks and have been wearing them since. I think I have had about 5 different pairs and they are the absolute best!!

^ I have never heard of those, where can I order those from? Thanks for the reply.

http://www.brooksrunning.com/

Well, here is the actual Brooks site. You can figure out what needs you have for a running shoe like if you need more stability, cushioning or whatever the case may be. I would personally find a shoe store and try some on, but I typically order them from other websites online because you can usually find discounts on previous season models.

here's another website that has customer reviews so you can read what other people say about the differnt models.

Hope that helps!

I own a pair of Brooks... they're about shot, but they've been good.

Nikes I have always found to not be great...

But Puma... I've felt those are great... I love the Puma Cell Flow. Unfortunately the one style I loved was discontinued in 2001, but I've managed to scrounge up 6 pairs off Ebay over the years. But I have other Puma shoes and find they're great for running.

I don't run but most people I know who do swear by New Balance.

I've heard that the Asics Gel Kayano is the best. I do not personally run so I don't have any experience with them, but i know many heightjumpers and other athletes use them a lot.

I've been running for many years and have tried many different brands of running shoes. My last few pairs have been Mizunos (wave runners and nirvana). I've also tried on many different types of New Balance, but found the toe box too big. However, I know several runners who have been very happy with their New Balances.

If there is one in your area, I recommend you get your shoes from a store specializing in running shoes. The sales people are usually very knowledgeable, and most running specialty stores will let you either run on a treadmill in their store or let you go for a run around the block to ensure that a particular shoe will fit your needs.

Thanks for your replies.
I settled for a pair of Nike for now. They seem to be really comfy so far. I am going to really break them in this afternoon.

Which ever pair make sure they are flexible enough yet support your feet for such a high resistance exercise...
I owned a pair of New Balance, and THEY WERE TERRIBLE. Gave me knee pain.
I love my Nikes.

The thing I never liked about Nikes are that they wore down too fast and fell apart too!

Hope yours work out better

I currently own a pair of Mizunos. It was hell to break them in at first but now they are like a dream.

Most people I know who run swear by New Balance also.

I need to buy a pair badly...I've heard the same about New Balances, I wore my sis' once, they were comfy, but I wasn't running a marathon or anything.

So I bought a pair of Nike running shoes, and since day one that I put them on my legs have not hurt one bit.
They are silver and orange and actually had "women's running shoe" wrote on the inside. I really like them. haha

I really like my Asics, but if you run a lot it's recommended to have at least two pairs of shoes to choose from. Expensive, I know. I keep putting off getting a new pair, but it will definitely be another pair of Asics.

I'm living in Boston which is considered a big "running/commuting" city. Brooks seems to be the sneaker of choice. I have a pair myself and they are very comfortable! Also, they are especially great for wider feet. Good luck!

When I first started running (when I was in college / university), I chose my shoes based on how they looked. I mostly bought Nikes and Adidas, both of which fell apart pretty quickly.

A few years ago, I went to a real running store (as opposed to someplace in the mall or big, general discount shoestore) and had a gait analysis done. They were able to fit me for shoes that suit the way I run, in addition to really fitting my narrow, low-arched feet. I also wear my running shoes a full 2 sizes bigger than my street shoes (6 or 6.6 street shoes; 8.5 running shoes!) -- the sizing-up has *really* helped with blisters, black toenails, etc. (sorry if that's TMI!).

My first "good" pair of running shoes were Mizuno Waverunners, but I've since progressed to the Asics Gel Nimbus model (which are spendy, but I can find last season's shoe on eBay stores for a good 25% less than I'd pay retail).

Good luck finding a good pair; it makes all the difference! :D

^ completely agree with the gait analysis! that was how i was introduced to my current running sneakers (brooks).. and they suggested a full 1.5 sizes up which really does make the run more comfortable!
