What can I wear it with? (December 2003 - March 2010)

I just bought this dress to wear to a christmas party this weekend. Its a satiny cotton and a bit shiny so the question is..Should I wear satin, patent leather shoes with it to pick up the shine in the dress or should I go for suede to add a bit of contrast? And also, what color? Isnt black a bit boring..

jewelry: strass (no necklace, I want to keep the special neckline clean)

^ What about faille? Not sure you want contrast, because the focus should be on the neckline and possibly the legs, yes? ;) If you're going with blingy earrings, you could pick up the bling on the shoes ... there are some cute ones right now.

Yes, the focus should def. be on the neckline and the legs..Faille is a good idea, not as shiny as satin.. Swarovski crystal earrings, no neclace...shoes that pick up the bling, very nice! Thanks Ta Ta...I like your suggestions :flower:

^how about a very understated silver or something slightly glittery/sequined? Off-white/tannish? Might help if you showed a pic of your coat! :flower:

OK, I can't find my camera, but it is really similar to this Lanvin coat (but with less of a flair/skirt thing at the bottom)

You're welcome, ELLE_ME :flower:

Hye Park, I know I have seen somewhere jeweled velvet sashes ... J Crew? Anthropologie? They may have been muted colors, like a sage green or a rose ... I would just wear your coat shopping, and try some on ... I think both of those stores will probably have some good options for you ...

Thought about sprucing up my bag - what do you girls think? Does it have enough of a "doctor's bag" look that a medical-themed little charm would fit? (I don't know what, I'd have to see what's avail...) Or...would it just look bizarre....

^ I think it might be witty :D But you don't want to look too official, you might be called upon to render aid, and I gather you are underqualified  ;)

No, I wouldn't want to fool anyone :) But I thought I might be able to find something obviously playful but in this theme...

lol! If I really had an MD, I would totally go for that :) It would be my little inside joke...

i bought this blue blazer with velvet cuffs and pockets.,2 rows of stud like fake buttons (its a zip-up blazer)
i have NO idea what to wear this with even tho i LOVE this jacket. here it is:

yeah i thot of that, but that would be like mixing denim! and its a fashion faux pas?

ok dark skinny jeans?

how about wearing that jacket with some culottes or shorts with tights?

Welcome DPD :flower:

Not an homme, but I've seen many of our tFS men doing blk denim with light sneakers and it looks fabulous! That would work with your white suit jacket. Maybe a stripey T underneath...

Thanks for the tip Curious, I hadn't considered black with it before. I'll certainly give that shot this weekend. Stripe wise I'll try my Ben Sherman polo with it!

I need some ideas on what to wear with this skirt (shoes, top). I'm thinking maybe purple for the top and match it with my eyeshadow.. Or something. It's for New Years Eve so it should be a little dressier.. Thanks!

It's a small pic but go to http://shop.hm.com/shop/do?action=viewshoppingwindow&dept=DAM_OVR_SKIRTS the second pic, then the skirt and click on "större bild"

edit : it's available in a beige color too so I can go with something light too.

Yasmin, I feel like both the scale and tone of the charm are off ... I think it's a bit too small, and also a bit too cute.

I don't know if this fits with your style at all, but since it's a bit heavy and black I thought maybe you could go a bit edgy. Didn't Prada do a skull trick? Something like that maybe ...

Something else you could try is a scarf. You could take a look at Coach's ... I can see maybe a mod optic black and white ...

I would take a Marc Jacobs "I mean for it to look a bit stodgy" approach rather than trying to make it cute, which isn't in its DNA ...

And PS retrain the giver pronto to give you mall gift certificates ;)

i completely agree with this.
you can find lots of prada-inspired charms (or any other charms) on ebay

i need your help

i bought this skirt yesterday, and i was gonna wear it to my cousin's wedding (on december 30th). but i'm not sure which color (top/shoes) s gonna work right with the skirt's color (which is sort of a military green with silver sequens).

the skirt itself doesn't say 'evening wear' unless i wear it with a top/shoes/accessories that brings it up and make it look more dressy.

so i hopw you guys can help me out here :flower:

^ that's a tough one ... I would put a white t-shirt and silver flat or kitten heel leather thongs with this for day ...

Any other options for what to wear to the wedding?
