Hi Everyone,

I've just bought a prom dress online for a glam Christmas dinner (I'm in the UK, so we don't really have proms and homecoming). Love to hear what everyone thinks of this design. I must get some pics done with me in it, but here's the catalogue pic (it's the one on the right).

I love anything dress that's completely overdone, glamourous, and Galliano-esque. So, good choice.

That dress, it's by Alyce or Xcite, right? I remember seeing it in the prom magazines. It's quite gorgeous although it's hard to get a read on it because it is shown sitting down.

so i have a problem girls... for my formal i bought a dress that is SLIGHTLY similar to this, except the detail on it is much more elaborate with colors of light blue, yellow and white. also it's not low cut, but more of a typical qi pao collar like this:

and the dress goes up to mid thigh. what i was wondering was what shoes i would wear it with? i'm so stuck with ideas because i dont want to overdo the outfit with a bright dress and bright shoes, or something along the lines of that.

so what do you girls think? the dress is bright red, and it's gorgeous by itself, and i dont want my shoes and accessories to bring attention away from it.

It's Xcite actually. Yeah, the pic doesn't do justice to it. Here's a full-length pic...

I would wear some sort of pump. I wouldn't want to wear anything strappy or cork wedgey to avoid a cheesecake-p*rno-massage-house look. :ninja: If the budget was totally unlimited I would wear these from YSL:

Decided the post the other pictures here because I thought my previous post was too long. ^_^
also from shopbop.com

Kisa and La bordelique, both your suggestions are great :) i was also thinking of black flats but i wanted to add some height as well. Kisa, those YSL shoes are GORGEOUS... i wish i had an unlimited budget.
thanks for the suggestions :) much appreciated

i am reincarnating this thread haha. i need major help finding a unique prom dress for this year! my prom's in april, but, the more time i have to figure it out the better. i'm tiny (5'0'' so i dont know if a looong dress flatters me, but, i'm open to suggestions!
any advice?
xoxo, lauren♥

Pretty much prom is long dresses, I find shorter dresses for prom to be unacceptable. I would look around, find a piece from the spring/summer runways that you like, then go to a seamstress. Have your dress custom-made and you'll definitely stand out.

if you aren't big busted you might try an empire waist long dress. that would make your legs look miles long and pair it with heels obviously

It's time again for Prom!

So my friend Jasper just called me this afternoon to ask me to prom. Woo! (we went together last year too, and had blast.)
Anyway, I'm now shopping for a dress. I'm going to get one online, since shopping in a store last year lead to the dreaded 'other-girl-has-the-same-dress-as-me'.
I've also decided that I want a dress in black and white. My favoruite colours to wear, and I think they look goregeous when don in formals.

Anyway!

I have it narrowed down to these two:

1

2
(this one has the scalloped/beaded hem which may become a problem if I have to hem it. [I'm really short.] I really, really like it anyway!)

(both from www.alldresses.com.)

I think I may go with the second one (it looks very Chanel-y flapper-y.) but it's so hard to choose!

So what are you wearing this year?
