Thats not what I meant .. look at Karl .. but John hass worked since a veeery young age and look at all he's given us .. he deserves some time off ... maybe the whole thing happened because he was too stressed tired ... Id gladly take a vacation :P

I just have a feeling that John Galliano will be back at Dior before we know it, Like Dom Imus.

well he's certainly on "vacation" indefinitely at this point

hes not on vacation now, hes in a nightmare.... no one wore Galliano at the MET ball...sad!!!

^Yeah, but Karlie wore Dior, very brave!

indeed. i didn't notice her at all.... there are too many pics, but im happy to hear that
his last show was amazing, too bad no one will wear those dresses.at least for now...

Indeed, altho i think she kind of owed it to him since he picked her to open like 10 of his shows for the past few years. I think she's the longest running show opener in recent history. I know Galliano was very fond of Gisele also but I think Karlie holds the record.

I don't see it as "being brave"; she's the face of the label, so it only makes sense.

very true. most of the celebs/models i've seen still sporting dior have contractual agreements to do so.

Galliano didn't deserve this... what he said was terrible, but poor man... too talented to just let it go. I can't imagine Dior without his magical storys. it is silly what they are doing to him, what he said.. i dont think he knew what he was saying.. dosent make any sence.

I'm looking forward to Dior S/S 2012. Dior is Galliano, he made it what it is today. Looking at his predecessors, they didn't really leave as big a footprint.

I know Galliano has had some questionable stuff on the runway, but there are many moments of brilliance/genius that no one can match. are we going to see something as magical as this number in the future from a designer at Dior? I'm not holding my breath. I can remember when I first watched this show, and Georgiana turned around to show the back of this dress, I was stunned. I think this is one of the most amazing dresses I've ever seen.

I honestly don't think Dior will be the best show next season. I can't grasp the idea of someone besides Galliano designing for the brand. Whoever becomes the creative designer has some HUGE shoes to fill in...

^ Considering that the successor will debut in the haute couture runway :judge:

^ not really. sydney toledano said the next couture will be made by the atelier and himself. From what I understand, John's successor will be announced next fall

I wouldn't expect much from the upcoming couture show either, it probably will be a massive rehash of all the rehashed silhouettes Galliano was forced to do for the last few seasons.

^ I agree. It will be like Galliano never left. So in a way he's still there :woot: .....

John Galliano could take over as Creative Director at GIANFRANCO FERRE
23 May 2011

After his scandalous departure from DIOR, British designer John Galliano is in talks with UAE based Paris Group which bought earlier this year the Italian house of Gianfranco Ferre. The hypothethis is even more likely given that the GF Ferre line is produced in licensing by Ittierre Group, today owned by Albisetti, which also produces in licensing the ''Galliano'' diffusion label.

^ If this pans out, they have to be throwing a lotta money at him.

ETA:
I am also momentarily discombobulated at the prospect of Galliano taking over the eponymous house of a former head designer for Christian Dior.

It makes a lot of sense, Galliano and Ferre have somewhat similar aesthetics. Their work for Dior is very connectible. As much as I loved the previous duo, if this happens I would be VERY VERY excited to see Galliano try a new house.
